Hi Mike.

I use borders to print, not only borders, but pseudo matting, and frequently wish for one more boarder.  For one large print, I can use the two borders and the page background color, but that approach doesn't work if I want to print multiple images with borders and but differing mat color.

Is there any possibility that you could add a third border?  I am hoping that, having created two borders, adding a third would be relatively simple.

Regards,
Doug

I thought two borders was pretty much the standard.  If I add a third, I just wonder how many people will then start asking for a fourth.  For me, I'd advise making a cutout/frame when you start needing something more complex than two borders.  Creating a cutout (frame), you could add three borders, four borders, or 16 borders if you like.  I think creating a frame is the more appropriate way to go if you need more complexity in your framing.

Mike-

I tried getting around things <GGG!> by using the black line around the print option, then 1/4" white border, then .02mm black border.  I am just trying to get two black lines.  It doesn't work.

Looks as though the white border ocupies the same real estate as the black line around the print, so no inner black line..  Is that so?

I understand what you'd face with requests for 4, 8, 16, etc.  Any chance for an option to set a distance between the two existing borders?

Thanks,

Seth

That's because the black line around the print is an "edge".  Edges are placed outside the print and borders are part of the print.  In other words, edges (whether corners, black line, etc.) will always appear on the outside of any borders so you get print, then border 1, then border 2, then whatever edge you chose.  To do what you want, you could create a cutout that has a black one pixel wide line around the outside.  Then use a border, and then a black line edge.  That should do what you want.  Really, you could create a "frame" cutout that has as many borders as you like.  There's more than one way to do this.

That simplifies it.  Soooooooooooo, is there a way in the registry or an ini to adjust the width of the edge?

I am trying not to create too many things for different sizes.  Since I cut my mats I am not bound by standard sizes.  I'll crop to what makes the image.  Must be the phojo background.

Anyway, that would solve what I am trying to do: black border, white border, black edge--if I could make it wider.  I am not looking for much width in either line.

Thanks,

If you want black border, white border, and edge, you can control the width of the black/white border by just entering the border width.  You could enter .01 and select black as the color for border 1, enter .2 and white for border 2, and then choose solid line for edges.  That'll give you a thin black line around the print, a .2 inch white border, and a thin black line around the outer edge of the whole thing.  Assuming you are working in inches.  Sounds like that would do what you describe.

Hi Mike-

Well I just tried to do a .25 border number one (white) and a .05 number two border (black) outside the 5x7 print area.  Actually tried .01 and .05.  It always reverts to .1 inch.  Is there any way to keep it thin or is 1/10 inch the minimum size?

Thanks,

Seth

Seth,
Mine is working fine, keeping the .25 and the .05 borders in the colors that you suggest.
5 x 7 "selected" and borders added using .B
Changing to B+ works fine too.

Hmmm.  I'm on the latest release.  I just tabbed out of that box.  Maybe I have to "enter" out.

You dont have to do anything other than make sure you have the image selected. If you forget to do that, when you do select it, the size will revert back to what it was before you entered the new numbers.
I have a feeling that's all it is.

I thought that also as I watched it bounce back and fourth.  So I made sure it was selected.  I'll go back to it and play more.

However, re-reading the earlier part of the topic may give me something that would be even better.  I'll also play with white border plus an "edge."
