An old but useful Canon S820. I have set up the parameters for a custom sheet size of 5.5 x 8.5 inches with the intent of printing an image area of 5x8. QImage Pro in printer properties under custom will also not retain that size. My workaround for the moment is to choose the 5x7 and go with the wasted margin area of vertical 3/8 and 1/4 by a horizontal of 3/8x5/8.

The Win driver wrap shows custom as does the Canon printer properties with the custom size defined further down.

When using a custom size on the printer restarting QImage retains the previously chosen "standard" size.

Am I missing something?

Sounds like you have a new driver and it is not compatible with settings from the previous driver that was used when printer settings were saved by Qimage.  Or, the remembered settings have just become corrupted.  To correct this, you must recreate the driver settings from scratch.  Click "Help", 'Reset printer settings" and when you restart Qimage, set the driver settings manually (without recalling a printer setup or job).  Once you recreate the settings, you can save them for future use.  The problems occur when you load an old printer setup or job that has settings based on an old (and now incompatible) driver.

That can solve the problem if it occurs. Sometimes a new custom size in the printer properties will crash QIMAGE with its reset option dialog. Fortunately if I do have to reset everything then there are not too many parameters for me to set.

The printer driver is the latest for the Canon S820. I purchased a couple of days ago a X-Rite Color Munki spectrophotometer to create a printer profile that works with QImage. (I do not have a decent scanner on my XP workstation so it was necessary for the measuring device to provide its own light source.) Canon did not really provide one for this model.

Between the Color Munki and QImage the life of this quality six ink printer has been extended.
