Title: download cutouts? Post by: PaulTopol on April 26, 2010, 12:19:20 AM Hi,

Post by: Fred A on April 26, 2010, 09:04:29 AM Quote Is there a place where I can download extra cutouts for our beloved QI? thanks Anyone that calls Qimage, "Our beloved Qimage", is gentleman!! I have emailed you my stash. Many of them were made by, "Our beloved Terry", Terry who is multi talented. Some are marked with a "V" and some with an "H" to denote they were designed for vertical or Horizontal application. Enjoy! Fred Title: Re: download cutouts? Flattery will get you nowhere ::)I've sent mine too, 1n 2 batches, but there'll be quite a few that are duplicated. Terry. Title: Re: download cutouts? Would you be willing to post them somewhere? The old forum on Yahoo had a file-posting site. Title: Re: download cutouts? I'll send you my stash, but Terry might have even more. Fred Looks like I'll need your email address. It's not listed on the forum. You can send me an email to wathree.ssz@verizon.net Title: Re: download cutouts? Post by: Owen Glendower on April 28, 2010, 05:23:59 PM Safely received, thank you.
Title: Re: download cutouts? Post by: wolverine@MSU on April 29, 2010, 01:02:52 PM I copied all of Terry's cutouts to the "Cutouts" folder and have encountered a few problems. When I first tried to select a cutout by using the drop-down menu, the new ones weren't showing up. I clicked on the "Cutout" box to bring up the Previewer and figured out how to get the listed cutouts into the previwere, but all of them were still not showing up. I did a few other things, like navigating to that folder in the selection window and can see all of the cutouts there. Then when I went back to the Cutout Previewer I got the following error message (see below). I removed QImage by using the Add/Remove Programs and reinstalled, but even with only the supplied cutouts I still get that error message when I try to Preview the cutouts. Any ideas?

I assume that you mean that you clicked the little landscape icon to remove old and create new thumbs of cutouts?I don't know why you have that error message. I have realised thatwith my batch there may be an odd Qimage filter file (.flt) among them form times when I edited a cutout image but that has never caused me a problem. Try re-setting Qimage from the Help menu. Terry. Title: Re: download cutouts? Post by: Owen Glendower on April 29, 2010, 02:37:51 PM I had a similar problem late last year. I was editing the files in c/program files/qimage. Turns out I should have been editing the files in c/all users/ddisoftware/qimage/cutouts.
Search your computer for folders named "cutouts." There can be more than one. Title: Re: download cutouts? Post by: wolverine@MSU on April 29, 2010, 07:30:24 PM I tried resetting all of the Qimage settings, but the error message still appeared.
I put all of the cutouts in the c:/all users/ddisoftware/qimage/cutouts folder (thanks Owen) and the dropdown menu now shows them all. I still get the error when trying to access the previewer. It's not a big deal now that I can see and access all of the cutouts. I can see why Qimage wants to look there for the cutouts in a multi-user system, but is there any way to set the path for cutouts to the /ProgramFiles/Qimage/cutouts folder? I couldn't find anything in the Preferences that allows path designations. Title: Re: download cutouts? I think Terry is out for a while, so I'll try to helpI believe that Qimage is hard wired to look in the Cutout sub folder inside the Qimage folder. This is the one you mentioned in your last post. My installation shows the working Qimage folder to be in C:\ProgramData\ddisoftware\qimage. The Cutout folder is \Cutouts below that. Have a look for that location... I have the exact same cutout pack as Terry, and I do not get any error message, so perhaps there's something else in that folder? Can you locate the offending cutout and pull it out perhaps? Fred Title: Re: download cutouts? Post by: Terry-M on April 29, 2010, 08:15:38 PM Quote My installation shows the working Qimage folder to be in C:\ProgramData\ddisoftware\qimage. The Cutout folder is \Cutouts below that. This is for Vista or W7XP is C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\ddisoftware\Qimage\Cutouts Maybe that's part of the problem, depends on which OS is being used and Qimage can't find the folder. Post by: Owen Glendower on April 30, 2010, 01:43:24 AM In my previous post, I failed to mention that I had no problem modifying a cutout and then being able to view & apply it until after I had upgraded to Studio edition...which, if I recall, was after I had set up a Guest account on my computer.
However, I was not getting any error messages. I had before the upgrade set up a shortcut to the Cutouts folder--but that folder was no longer THE Cutouts folder being used by Qimage. See my previous post, above. Not sure why it worked out like that--which is why I hope I'm not misdirecting anyone with this post. Using XP Home, SP3, and Qimage Studio Edition. Title: Re: download cutouts? Post by: Owen Glendower on April 30, 2010, 01:25:31 PM Back to the original subject: additional cutouts for Qimage.
Run a google search for photo (frames, masks) and you'll find plenty of freebies. Not all will work with Qimage, but many will. Title: Re: download cutouts? Post by: wolverine@MSU on May 01, 2010, 01:18:51 PM Something else strange is happening. It seems that only the cutouts supplied with Qimage are causing problems. If I remove them from the folder and put in Terry's pack, they all work fine. As soon as I copy one of the original cutouts back into the folder I get the error message. I uninstalled the program, and then went into the Registry and removed ALL keys with the word "qimage" in them. Of course, one of them was the unlock code, so when I reinstalled (using the latest version, q10-202.exe) I had to reenter my unlock code. But then the program asked me if I wanted to take the 10 minute tour, to which I clicked "No", and Qimage started, but immediately shut down. Each time I try to start it, it starts to load, and then crashes back to desktop.
Fortunately, I was able to use System Restore to get back to a working version, and when I started looking at the folders, I see several instances of ddisoftware (ddisoftware(2), ddisoftware (2)(2)) and several versions of the cutouts folder (cutouts, cutouts(2)). I'm not sure where these are coming from unless it's from not uninstalling the current version before installing the newer versions. Should the older version be uninstalled before installing a newer version? Title: Re: download cutouts? Post by: admin on May 01, 2010, 02:56:35 PM Not sure what is happening here. Sounds almost like one of the original cutouts got corrupted. Maybe this will help: if you want to find the "official" folder that Qimage is using, click "Utilities", "Explore Qimage Application Data". It's the "Cutouts" folder that shows up in that explorer window that is the one Qimage is using.
Mike Title: Re: download cutouts? Post by: wolverine@MSU on May 01, 2010, 02:57:20 PM Even stranger: If I copy the supplied cutouts into a separate sub-folder within the "cutouts" folder, I can navigate to them in the previewer and they load and work fine. As soon as even one is copied back to the "Cutouts" folder I get the error message.
Title: Re: download cutouts? Post by: wolverine@MSU on May 01, 2010, 03:02:43 PM Must have been corrupted cutouts somehow. I used Irfanview to do a batch rename, saved them as TIFF and now they work just fine. Thanks for the tip Mike.

I wrote you a line to explain the H and the V designations that Terry used when he made some of them. Fred Title: Re: download cutouts? Post by: mburke on May 29, 2010, 05:18:48 PM Thanks a bunch - I just got a new ipf6300 printer and am running paper all over the floor learning how to use Qimage with the driver and Capture NX. I thought it might be fun to try some cutouts because I have some extra real estate now. It is a lot of fun and a couple of the prints are spectacular. I need to learn more about sizing the pictures on 24" roll paper and how to make the cutter work correctly, but WOW is this nice.
Terry was very helpful (and patient) last fall when I was trying to make some templates for Christmas cards. You guys are an invaluable resource. Mike Title: Re: download cutouts? Post by: JayL on May 30, 2010, 05:05:21 AM I agree with Mike.
Thank you!!! ;D |
