I've done a search and come to the conclusion that nobody around here is using Qimage to print labels for DCD and CD use.

I'd love to know I am wrong.

If not then maybe some kind soul could point me to some suitable freeware, please.

Good morning Tony,
Since there are a number of excellent CD label apps dedicated to printing CD labels and Cd jackets, that it is hardly worthwhile for Mike to make a Cd printing routine for Qimage, especially in light of the fact that CD label paper is really not photo quality unless you want to pay through the nose for the labels.
Most of us who do a lot of CD label making use software called Sure Thing. It is really slick as well as having the ability to design your own, use an existing image as background, add text in circular or flat composure, etc etc etc.
It isn't free, but not costly either.

Thanks Fred,

I knew you'd come to my rescue.

You know I do some amdram photography. Over the last  couple of years the demand has turned significantly off prints and on to disks.

Suits me as it will be more profitable. So I want to make them look smart.

I'll go for that software you suggest. Must not be mean and penny pinching.

EDIT. I was recommended to use Deep Burner Free to download my pix to the DVD. I installed it and found it also had a label making facility. At this stage I cannot handle anything too advanced so I'll try this one for starters. But thanks for the pointer anyway.

+1 for SureThing!  I use it and wouldn't use Qimage for that task.

Sod's law strikes again! The very first CD I tried to print after recommending Acoustica it refused to print  Huh?- I had to un-install and re-install the program. This is the first time I've had a problem with it, it's still a good program Smiley

Mike and Fred,

Do you have any idea why Sure Thing is cutting the last five percent from the bottom of my lower label.

I'm using (British) A4 labels, design L7760, on an HP Photosmart 2575.

My work around will be to print the top label and then re-use the sheet upside down. But it would be nice to have it working properly.

Other than that - a nice prog. Never as nice as Q, but what is?

EDIT. And what is the way of accurately removing the label from the backing paper and making sure it precisely correct on the disk? I read somewhere about putting the disk on a sponge - is that the trick?

My version of Sure Thing shows a selection of stock from which one must choose the label stock he bought.
Maybe there's a different version of Sure thing for the UK which you have that shows L7760, but all of the choices I have (about 75) have company names and then stock numbers.
For example:Neato, Ace, Avery, with Avery 8695-2 UP; or Avery 8931- 2 UP and so on...........
You can see that Avery alone has at least 7 stock types with different numbers indicating the placement and spacing of the circular templates.
So, unfortunately, you will have to dig a little deeper for a more qualified paper match.
Alos mentioning that I show 2 selections on legal size sheets 8.5 x 14.
All the rest are 8.5 x 11. Double check the A4 selection to match the selections in Sure Thing.

Since making the post I have found that I can print on the top circle, flip the paper and then print on the new blank top. Not a major problem considering the number of disks I'll ever be selling !!

Now the clue as to how to peel the label and stick it plumb in the middle of the disk, please ?

EW!
That requires that you have a "gadget" for pasting the labels on to the disks.
Go back to the store and look for a pack of CD labels that is sort of a starter set. That usually contains the "die" (don't know the right name) or fixture.
I have one made by Fellows/Neato that works very well, but there are other brands too.
