Title: help with print size
Post by: Bruce I on April 09, 2010, 09:59:51 PM
just got back into using qimage and am a bit frustrated. I just set all my printer properties as per the documentation for an epson 4880, centered on, borderless off, highest quality...etc, saved as custom setup.

main page printer props.....paper setings....source - paper tray...size - 8.5x11....printable area - centered.....borderless unchecked

page layout...got the ouput page right, shows up as 8.5 x 11 in qimage

cropped in qimage using pryramid interpolation to 8x10...and the print comes out 7x9....what am I missing ?

Thanks

Bruce,
Welcome back!
What does Qimage report as the print size in the lower left corner (the queue)? Read it carefully as it might say 8.0 x 10.0 (including a border) in which case you might find a .5 inch white border turned on.
If that is not the case, then check the driver to see if scaling is turned on.

Let me know...
and why Pyramid.... try Hybrid.!!

Thanks for responding....the queue says image#.tiff<8x10, nothing about borders. What I did notice in my printer driver 'reduce/enlarge' was checked and has 2 options....'fit to page' and 'custom' with scaling which I can set to 100%, is this what you'retalking about ? I can also just turn off 'reduce/enlarge' altogether.....

ok I just reset the scaling to 100%, I think this was the problem, I'll try a print in the am, I'll either be 'smilin' or 'cryin'.....let you know....and okey dokey on the hybrid interpolation

Yep, that was the problem.
Turn that enlarge/ scale thing off altogether.
You have Qimage that sizes accurately, more so than any driver can.

Good job!

I would take it then that you found the problem somewhere between selecting the correct paper size and turning off extraneous gadgetry.
OK I will assume you are in a happy place.... The Rays beat the Yankees, so I am too.
