anyone have some info on how to make a template, custom layout/background to create a christmas card and then use the background to print all images in one folder?>

Hi,
Are you familiar with making Qimage templates?
Here is a quick summary if not.
At the end of every folder of image thumbnails there is a thumb called "Template"
Use this as if it were a real image to create a layout - everything included, size, position, text, borders and any "real" image that is required on every card.
See first attached screen shot which shows an A4 page with a template for one image on the front of the card when the A4 page is folded. There's a red border and text.
Save the template as a "Layout".
To use the template, open the Print Properties dialogue window (icon or held right click on preview) and select Custom at the bottom of list of sizes.
Now select "Layout" from that list of options and select the saved layout you made from the list.
Open your folder of images, select the ones required and click the red +  above the panel of thumbs (Add to Queue).
The selected images will be added to make the same number of cards, see other attached screen shots.

... and to add to the story, you can use your imagination in formatting your template (s) for your cards.
For example: I found it very convenient for Quickie Birthday cards and get well cards, the type that pop up and you need a personalized card quickly.
I made 4- 4 x 5 templates which I saved and keep as a basic card. I save them with the text included so even the text and pictures are centered and sized for the next card.
Each template forms 1/4 of my card.
I just change the words and the picture... for the occasion.
I make these for quick cards.... I print then on plain copy paper, and fold them once each way.
The will open like a book, like a card you buy in the store, no special paper,,,,
For predictable holidays, of course, good paper, classier formats and templates, with mats and borders etc. (Like Terry does with class)

First snap shows my 4 templates before I add anything to them.
Second shows the layout of the templates and text, some of which is upside down.  
I Put some dotted lines to show where the card folds.
When folded, it will become correctly positioned.

Last snap is about what your print will look like.

The good part is that you can make modules for Birthdays, Anniversaries, Get Well, etc, and plug them in by substitution.

** Explanation of this card.
My doctor's office called one day to cancel an appointment because my doctor had a really bad cold.
In some perverted way, this struck me very finny, and I had to send him a Get Well Card.
