I am using an Epson 4000 printer with rolls of 10-inch wide paper and Windows 7.  I can't figure out the settings that allow me to print the template in a horizontal format.  I want to use 5x7 (1) and 2x3 (7).

I can use a vertical format for the paper, but I have to trim some unused paper.  The printer is set to user defined paper size and a width of 10 inches and height of 8 inches.  The printer is also set to borderless.

I have tried the printer in landscape.  The result is that the template is shifted to the left and the 5x7 is square. I have tried both the portrait and landscape setting in the Qimage setting.

How can I use this template without wasting paper or having to trim the output?

I don't think that template will fit into the page size you described.
I just tried a sheet of 8.5 x 11 paper and I get what I think you want.
I can set the roll paper size to 11 x 10.02  or 11 x 8.5 and it works
