I have been printing on my Epson 3800 since this printer was first released, and I have been using Qimage for many years without any problems.

Today I received some Epson Exhibition Fiber paper, I set up the print properties in Qimage as the directions that came with the paper indicate. I place the paper in the rear feed as suggested. When I try to print from Qimage, it goes through the processing, but the printer never tries to print. The paper feeds into the printer OK.

I originally had it set for print preview, but I tried it with this box unchecked and I have the same problem.

There is no error showing either in Qimage or on the printer.

I have shut down both Qimage and the printer and restarted them a number of time and I end up with the same problem.

Does anyone know what may be happening?

Have you tried printing with a paper you have used before?
Is there a paper thickness setting in the 3800 driver. If your new paper is thicker than "normal", that could prevent printing starting even though the initial feed has taken place.

Thanks Terry,

Yes, I just went back and printed with another paper through the standard feed without any problems.

I see two things don't look right when I try to print the Exhibition Fiber paper. First, Qimage does not show the Print Preview when it is selected, but only with this paper. It works fine on other paper.

By the way, I am using this profile which I just downloaded from the Epson site: SP3800_EFP_PK_2880.icc

New information! I have been trying all different tests, even while I was writing this post.  I put a sheet of plain white paper in the rear feed on the printer. I set up Qimage for the Exhibition Fiber paper again. When I clicked the print button, I got the preview and when I said OK on the preview it gave me a paper feed error. I removed the plain white paper and inserted the Exhibition Fiber paper again and it printed it perfectly. I hate wasting expensive Exhibition Fiber paper to test it again, so I guess I will just wait until my next print job.

Except for the plain white paper, I did everything the same as I had done for the past 3 hours.

I am more confused than ever now. I hate wasting expensive Exhibition Fiber paper to test it again, so I guess I will just wait until my next print job.

It is not Qimage that is not showing the Print Preview, Q has nothing to do with it once it's finished its processing, it's the driver  Shocked

Are you printing over a network by an chance, I believe that can cause odd problems like preview not showing?

Pleased to hear that you got a good print on the new paper but if plain paer did not feed properly, maybe there's an intermittent fault with the printer.
Hopefully some other 3800 users available to comment on your problem here.

Thanks Terry,

I did not realize the Print Preview was not part of Qimage.

If I just set the paper in the back feed, the printer will not take it. If I push the paper all the way down until it hits a stop (which is about three inches further), the printer will feed the paper.

Someone on another forum suggested this which seems to have solved my problem:

In Qimage, open “Edit”; “Preferences”; “Printing Options…” – set the “Print Spooler” to RAW as opposed to the default EMF.
