Title: Panorama printing
Post by: pinball on September 19, 2009, 07:36:10 PM
HI all I'm trying to print a panorama  on a epson R1900 printer I have tried reading the manual but no luck, wasting alot of paper. Have been trying to print a panorama shot the size of the picture is 7449 X 2253 Have tried many different ways but it dont come out right, it prints the wrong way and only part of a small section comes out. The size of the frame I have is 11 3/4 X 30 so is there a way to print a centered picture on the 13 inch roll paper, Thanks in advance

Bill :'(

Bill, have to run out for a while, but start by setting the print driver to user defined size. Then set paper size the size to 1300 x 3100.
Then use Custom in Qimage and set your print size to 30.0 x 11.75
Place your image in the queue with crop scissors ON, and you should be OK.
I'll be back in 90 minutes if you need more. I have an R 1800.

You did tell the driver you had roll paper, and you set the user defined page size to 1300 x 3100?
Did you set the Custom print size to 11.75 x 30.0?
You should get an options box in the print driver that asks, Cut sheet, Sheets or roll/banner mode, or save paper.
You select roll paper/banner mode.
Have no fear. We will get you all set up in just a few minutes.
All you have to do is tell me what does Qimage report as the printable area (see top of snap 28)
Then tell me what the custom print size shows in the lower part of snap 28. Mine says 30.0 x 11.75

Let's work together.

That sounds like you have the width of the paper switched around with the length.
See the attached screen snap.

let me know.

Ok,
You going to be OK for the evening, or should I hang around here another half hour?
Now click on Custom and set the PRINT size to 30.0 x 11.75

Crop scissors set to on.

You should be fine.

ok silly me had wrong size it should be 11 3/4 x 36 inches DUH!! that is the size of the paper, so now seeing how this comes out I would need a border on all ends and centered and I here qimage can print lines for where I need to cut, so I just change the 31 to 36 but how about centering and the cut lines if possible Thanks again

Bill,
Now that you have the hang of it, and have changed the paper size to 36.5" long and set the width to 1205, and set the driver to Borderless.
You should get an even .25 inch border around your print.
See screen snaps of the Qimage Full Page Editor screen.

If you want to use cut lines, then I would change the procedure to this routine.
1) Set the paper size to 1295 x 3700 in User Defined. Turn Off the Borderless (and remember to answer banner mode when the box pops open) .
Go back to the Qimage main page where your 36.5 x 11.75 print is set. and now make sure the image is selected by clicking on it one time, and add a .25 inch white border to the print using the B+ setting.
See screen snap 13. Now put a check mark in EDGES just below the borders boxes, and select Guidelines or whatever you like better.
That will place the cutting guidelines on the outside the .25 inch border, and you can use them easily.

You can go into the printer setup and do a custom paper size instead of roll.  Same way you would have to do with Red River 38" pano paper.  The feed would be set as "Manual>Roll."

QI will see the paper size, then go from there.

BTW- You can print a vertical pano.  I have done office buildings that way instead of rotating.  You jst have to think it through.

Thanks Fred and seth I have the picture up on the wall as I type, but had still problems but a great learning curve. I learn that you should keep the size to what you want and not add half a inch and to add borders inside that size and some day I will figure out the cut lines. Thanks for all the help  ;D ;D ;D

Didn't you let it dry first. ;D :o ::) :D :D

Glad I could help...
We used the B+ border to add a 1/4 inch white border around the picture and keep the print size you asked for.
If you use the B without the plus, then the actual picture shrinks to allow for the border, and the whole sheebang is your print size including the border.
The more you use Qimage, the more you get comfortable with it.
Just keep asking questions when you need help. Glad to try to help. I did hang around for you last night, but lids started to get heavy, and even the Rays' baseball game didn't help me.  8) :D

Glad to help.
