Title: Pathnames in file browser
Post by: Mark Raymond on December 04, 2009, 04:01:43 PM
I may be in the minority here, but I seldom use the thumbnail view in the file browser, preferring to use the file listing instead.  Unfortunately, since version 2009.250 the file listing won't show just the filename, and instead shows the entire path for every item.  This makes it difficult to see the filenames without scrolling the file browser back and forth.

Since the pathname is already displayed above the folder listing, it seems unnecessary to show the full path for every item in the file listing.  It would be great if this could be returned to its original design.

(Or perhaps I've missed something.)

[edit] Grammar fix.

Mark.
You can move the vertical separator bar that lies between the preview panel, upper right, and drag that to the right making as much room as you need for the filenames and paths.
I tried to include a shot of my screen for you, but am restricted to file size on here.
So see if what I attached makes sense to you.

You haven't missed anything (in this case) but Qimage (Studio Edition) can now do albums which means that you can have files from many different folders in that area.  So while you are using it to display one folder, there could be files from three, four, or more different folders showing at one time in the file list.

Mike

Fred:

That's a good suggestion, but unfortunately I use my monitor in "portrait" mode, so my horizontal real estate is still a bit short for my long path names.  Might help other folks though.

I originally stated that I needed to scroll back and forth to see the names, but I now realize that there are no scroll bars, so the only way to see the file names is to run the pointer across each line--very tedious.  (I've been forced to stick with 2009.209--the last version that showed only the file names--so I forgot about the lack of scroll bars.)

Mike:

Does the album feature display the full path in the file list, or just the file name?

Yes, it shows the entire path for each image in the "album".
That's the reason for the path since the album may have images from a variety of folders.
