Title: Print aborts, apparently at random Post by: felipefried on November 24, 2009, 11:29:49 PM Windows 7
Intel Quad Core QImage 2010.101 Epson 9800 Good Evening Mike and fellow QImage users> I recently replaced my Windows XP machine with a new Quad Core Windows 7 PC. Q was slow, but normal, on the XP box. On the new Win7 machine Q and spooling are impressively fast. Q seems to process images, and the spool file is created, everything seems normal. Then while physically printing the print will suddenly abort. The printer simply stops printing, and then proceeds to wind out a large amount of blank paper. The printed area is some percentage of the total, and this % varies. Much expensive ink and paper (and time) have been wasted. Some prints are completed normally, and some abort as indicated. What could be causing this? Should I return to the XP? Many thanks, Philip Title: Re: Print aborts, apparently at random Post by: Fred A on November 24, 2009, 11:45:14 PM Quote What could be causing this? Make sure the Spool is empty and cleared of all debris before printing. Second thought is to unplug the power cord from the printer to the wall, and wait a minute, and plug it back in. Also realize that after moving to Windows 7, your Qimage saved jobs and saved print settings will not be compatible with the ones you saved/used in XP/Vista because Windows 7 driver settings are not compatible with XP/Vista driver settings. You may need to use "Help", "Reset printer settings" in Qimage and after that, be sure not to load any prior saved jobs/setups unless they were saved from Windows 7. Yes, I do have the latest Epson driver stated to be
for Win7. I'll go through your other suggestions tomorrow morning. Too tired right now... Meanwhile I decided to check this troublesome little item: "Go to control panel, printers and faxes, and right click on your printer and select "Properties". On the "Advanced" tab, make sure "Enable Advanced Printing Features" is not checked" and found that that Advanced Printing Features WAS checked! Could this have been the culprit? I'm on a fairly large print run: Six 110 X 160 cm prints. I unchecked Advanced Printing Features, applied the changes, and proceeded with my print run. Seems to be working normally so far... Thanks again, Philip Title: Re: Print aborts, apparently at random Post by: felipefried on November 25, 2009, 05:21:43 PM Print abort hasn't re-ocurred...
