Title: Print to tiff file for Adoramapix: how to specify pixel dimensions?
Post by: omnipheasant on November 05, 2009, 07:59:34 PM
About 18 months ago I used Qimage to produce some .tif files to print at Adoramapix.  They came out beautifully.  As I recall, at that time when I printed to file I was able to set the size of the image itself.

Now, with 2010.100, the options appear to only be to print to a page, including the white space.  This makes no sense to me.  Do I have to set the page size to the size of the image I want, and then resize the image to fit the page exactly?  The Faq pdf suggests that printing companies want a page, but Adoramapix wants an image.  Would someone care to explain?

Also, I'm seeing tif files as 8 bit depth in Bridge, while  they are showing up as either 24 or 40 bit (?) in Qimage.  The 40 bit thumbs are not displaying.  ?  Adorampix only takes 8 bit.

The first time, you must not have used print-to-file.  Sounds like you just resampled in the batch filter... or maybe you didn't resample at all.  Qimage's print-to-file has always been based on page size: technically you can't really "print" or do things like place multiple images on a page without having a page/size.

Ahhh.  Thanks.

Can you explain what's going on with the varying bit depth readings I'm getting.  I saved several tif files in Photoshop, some show up in Qimage as 24 bit, some as 40, and Bridge reads them all as 8.
