I am using v2010.209 and since it was installed I receive this error on loading. Suggested corrections including Help/Printer reset have not gotten rid of the error. My printer is an Epson R1900. Otherwise program behaves normally.

Reinstall the printer driver. Remove it first from Control panel.

Thanks Fred! Went to Control Panel, removed printer, then installed downloaded driver file Epson13407.exe. All working, including error, which is still there. I didn't mention that I am using Vista Home Premium 64 bit 4GB ram.

I just double checked the download, and it looks like you have the right one.
Based on the fact that the error is presented immediately, the problem has to be printer related since the firs thing Q image does is check the printer.
So my next suggestion is to hold the SHIFT KEY down while you click the Qimage icon to open it.
This will do a reset of the files that Qimage uses to recall previous settings.
It could be something that was saved which got corrupted.
Have a try.

Fred, everything was reset using the shift key. Did it several times but the error appears everytime the shift key is not used. Something is really corrupted and I have previously reinstalled 2010.209 without removing the program first. Can you give further suggestions?

Sometimes in the 64 bit versions of Windows 7 and VISTA security is really tough for files that have to grab device properties. Just as a guess create a shortcut to Q and right click properties, then advanced properties, and set it to run as an admin. Be logged in as an admin when you set this up. See if that helps.

That sounds like the right direction!
I would even suggest one more if RONZIE'S idea fails. Disable anti virus software and reinstall Qimage, and then try to run it.
Some very aggressive AV programs will check every file before it is opened or moved.

Good ideas! I first disabled Vipre's active protection and Qimage opened without error. After opening Vipre and reviewing settings Qimage is still opening error free. I don't think I mentioned that this error did not occur with versions prior to 209.

If you check the Qimage site for NEWS, you will see that this version is essentially the same as the release in February, of this year.
There have been no problems in all these months.
I respectfully suggest that you might have had an upgrade to your anti virus program in the last 8 months, or a combination of VISTA 64 bit default security combined with the AV security.
Sounds like you are zero-ing in on the culprit.

If you upgrade an application version, many protection applications will see it as a new or modified application. You will need to reset this as a trusted application again in your protection software probably under trusted programs or trusted applications. This applies to more than Internet access.

They make look at version numbers and creation and modified dates to insure that the application has not been tampered with.

An antivirus application may also detect a potential threat based on "heuristics" and frequency of access to operating system services so the need to set QImage as a trusted application especially when upgraded is paramount. In VISTA and Win 7 access to applications on any disk under a Program Files folder is strictly controlled internally by Windows protection as well.
