Title: profiles for fotospeed papers Post by: skomer on October 20, 2009, 09:09:10 PM Hi all, I have been told by Fotospeed UK that Qimage has profiles for their papers. I am using an Epson 7800 with ultrachome inks. The paper is fotospeed FS Ultra Matt 240gms. Does anyone know where this profile is in Qimage and how to use it for printing. I have had a look at the profiles in Qimage but I can't figure out what they are. Any help greatly appreciated. Qimage Studio user. Tom Piper

As far as I know, these are the only printer profiles that Mike sells for that printer type, but, as you can see, they are for Epson prem Glossy and Epson Prem Luster. See below. Therefore, you will have to do one of the following to get a profile. Contact Cathy's Profiles, and she will make one for you. Contact the paper company and ask if they have profiles that they offer for download. Last. If you are going to need a number of profiles, and would enjoy learning and creating your own, you can purchase Profile Prism which has all the ingredients that you would need to create your own for this paper and others to come. Once you have a proper profile, and you need help with setting it to work properly in Qimage, let us know. Fotospeed offer a free custom profiling service (in the UK) - see http://www.fotospeed.com/customprofiling.asp (http://www.fotospeed.com/customprofiling.asp) They will ask you to print 1 or 2 targets with squares of colour and send them to them, and they will email back the profile. (voice from the past, here) I never considered Profile Prism when you first spoke about it as did not have a scanner. Now I have an HP Photosmart 2575. Would that be good enough? I'm currently printing with an Epson 2400 but constantly wonder about moving to CIS - which is when I'd need to have some new profiles. Kindest regards, Tony Title: Re: profiles for fotospeed papers Post by: Fred A on October 21, 2009, 05:17:31 PM Quote (voice from the past, here) Hello Tony!! Yes, it has been a long while since we last spoke. As to your question re scanners and whether a particular model is of sufficient quality, the answer lies somewhere within the text to follow. Usually, it is the software that you or your scanner uses that decides if it will work or not. Many have purchased Vuescan and other apps to handle the scanner. The second part of the answer would be to post your question: Does anyone use ab HP Photosmart 2575 with Profile Prism, and what are the results? Post this in the Profile Prism section of the forum, and see what jumps back. It's impossible to know every model of every brand and say it will or will not qualify as workable. It might be reasonable to purchase a very inexpensive Canon LIDE scanner, and have the scanner that works well with Profile Prism. Good to hear from you! (My best to the Queen) ;) Fred Title: Re: profiles for fotospeed papers Post by: tonygamble on October 22, 2009, 09:20:26 AM Thanks Fred,
Passed your message to HRH. She reciprocates - not bad at that age either! I've posted on the other forum. Yes, I could buy another scanner. That's the cheap bit. It is expanding my work area that is the costly element! All the best. Tony www.tonygamble.org/hurlingham - if you want to see what keeps us amused these days. Title: Re: profiles for fotospeed papers Post by: rayw on November 05, 2009, 11:09:45 PM Hi Tom,
I mentioned this to John - he who owns Fotospeed - at their show yesterday. He got mixed up with another software brand with 'image' in its name... One of his guys mentioned the software name in question, but i can not now recall it. If you have a reasonable scanner, although Fotospeed, and other paper suppliers offer profiles, it is far more convenient to use Profile Prism, and if you like fiddling, you can edit the profiles too :) . Fotospeed are a nice company to deal with, they are about to take on Canon printers, so I'm working on 'em to spend the few pounds on Qimage for their printing. Best Wishes, Ray |
