I have been a happy user of Qimage Pro for several months. However, just recently I have been experiencing repeated crashes when either I attempt to navigate away from my C drive to my auxiliary F drive (that holds many of my image files) within Qimage, or if I attempt to use the Full Page editor on a selected thumbnail that will display (on my C drive). The problem seems to be related to Qimage's displaying and/or building of thumbnails.

I am using v. 2010.112 on an XP Pro box; my printer is HP Z3200.

Thanks

Hi,

You don't say whether the F drive is internal or external and if external, how connected?

Strange that you should be having a problem with your F-drive, I did too today  Roll Eyes
It's an external 320GB drive that can be connected by Firewire or USB. I'd had some problems with the Firewire interface but it seemed ok .after I re-installed the drivers. However, when I tried to open a folder of raw image files on that F-drive, in Qimage, similar problems occurred an everything hung as thumbs were built.
However, it was not a Qimage problem  Cheesy
It was that Firewire again. All was good as soon as I re-connected as USB and re-booted; thumbs built quite quickly and everything was normal in Qimage.
Now you see why I asked how the HD was connected  Wink

Thanks Terry.

My 2nd drive is internal, unfortunately. I do have an external HD with Firewire connection and it I can navigate to it within Qimage with no apparent problems. So the offending file must reside on my internal F drive somewhere, causing Qimage to crash when it makes a thumbnail (I guess). Still can't figure out why Qimage continually crashes when I switch to full page edit mode, though (no matter on what drive the image resides).

If the crash occurs when you enter the Full Page Editor, and it does that regardless of which image and which drive the image comes from, then I suggest you click HELP and RESET ALL PROGRAM SETTINGS.
Let us know please.
Best,
Fred

Thanks, Fred. "Resetting all Program Settings" seemed to cure everything.

Recently Qimage has been crashing when attempting to use the Full Page Editor.

The FPEditor window opens, fails to load the requested image, and then the following
Win7 error message appears:

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Qimage.exe has stopped working

A problem caused he program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is
available.

                                                           [Close program]
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Help:Reset All Program Settings  does NOT solve this.
Rebooting does not solve it either.

Configuration:
Qimage 2010.112
Win7
Intel Core 2 Quad
Images are loading from the same internal SATA drive as always

Any idea what could be causing this?

Many thanks,

Philip,
Just a guess here since you are the person in the driver's seat.
It sounds like a W7 System error. The cause will take some detective work on your part.
When was it working without any crash? If it was a few days or even a week or two, you can use system restore in W7 and go back to that date.
From there, see what program applications you have added to the machine that might be in conflict.
Sometimes, it's a disk defragger that was running in the background or an anti virus program that you decided to try.
Sometimes it's some software you recently installed.
Check to see what was installed since the last time you ran Qimage without a crash.

Try a registry cleaner. Run a virus scan.
That's all I can think of at the moment, but the restore point is where I would start from.

Appreciate that Fred.

Will try to check the items you mention and report back, but meanwhile:

The '...Windows will close the program...' crash is intermittent.
Sometimes when I run the Full Page Editor it pops up, sometimes no.  Does that tell us anything?

In a way!
There might be some app that runs either by timer like an AV scan, or one that burbles along in the background like my latest (and I hate it, and turned off the auto feature) version of Executive Defragger.
When the auto feature, which is described as defragging my hard drive constantly as I worked, but deferring the computer resources to whatever application I was running when it needed them.
So, it messed up two programs on my machine..... Acronis, and AVG, and two different ones on my wife's computer.
The problem only appeared during some conflict between the Defragger and AVG or Acronis. Otherwise, one wouldn't know there was a problem with it.
That's the type of thing I would be looking at/for.
That's why a week or so ago, I mentioned perhaps, trying a system restore back to when there was no Problem with Qimage, and see what software had not yet been added.

I've been using Comodo as a sort of all-around security device.

So I tried turning Comodo off.  Since I did that the problem with Full Page Editor hasn’t recurred, at least not yet…

Can’t tell you how much I appreciate your taking the time to help.

My pleasure, and it was a guess. :-)
