Title: Tiff Compression request Post by: Terry-M on June 30, 2009, 11:44:14 AM Mike,
Would it be possible in a future version to have LZW compression available as an option for tiff files please. I think this would be in Convert, Filter Save As and Print to File. Terry. Title: Re: Tiff Compression request Post by: Fred A on June 30, 2009, 11:56:14 AM 8)
I don't want to add to Mike's load of plans, but along the lines of your request, I was thinking of a Q-ZIP option in that same box where multiple images can be compressed and zipped in one operation. Just another dot in that box? Maybe using (coupling to) PKZIP and WINZIP, or a Qimage zipped file compatible with all zips? Fred ::) Title: Re: Tiff Compression request Post by: Terry-M on July 02, 2009, 10:05:59 PM Quote I was thinking of a Q-ZIP option in that same box where multiple images can be compressed and zipped in one operation. Fred,Now that Qimage has "Explore Current Folder" in the Utilities menu, I have found you can create zip folders from there. I use 7-Zip (free open source program) and that puts a right click item in Windows Explorer. Once the e-mail copies have been produced, accept the option to go to the {Q}E-mail folder and then "Explore". Next, select the images & create the zip from the right click menu. Finally, select and right click the zip folder and choose "Send To" your e-mail program. Not as neat as a "dot in the box" but it saves you opening Explorer outside of Qimage. Terry. I must tell you though, my setup works even better and slicker. No need for explore current folder from Utilities. I open Folders in Qimage and ..... I right click on the {Q}email folder that contains the images, and I have a selection that says, PKZIP; add to archive new or existing; or ZIP and EMAIL! One click, I get a zip save box. I name my zip file, and click SAVE. All done! Q saves in the same folder or you can choose a different one. Thanks for adding that zip feature so quickly, Mike! ;D ;D ;D Seriously for a moment! Isn't it wonderful how a simple exchange of ideas can produce a new facility in a wonderful program like Qimage? Fred Title: Re: Tiff Compression request Post by: Terry-M on July 03, 2009, 01:02:08 PM I've just tried it - thanks :)
Quote Q saves in the same folder or you can choose a different one. It saves in the main folder, not the {Q}e-mail sub folder, I assume that's what you meant? And ... To e-mail the zip, right click the main folder, Explore, right click the zip and Send To your e-mail program. Quote Thanks for adding that zip feature so quickly, Mike! I assume this came about with V265, the release notes just say: Seriously for a moment! Quote Folder browser: Improved the folder browser context menu so that folders can be deleted or renamed without producing error messages. The full Windows context menu is all there now, I seem to re-call trying to zip from there a while ago but couldn't.No LZW compression yet though, maybe after all the barbecues, fireworks and fun tomorrow ;) Terry Title: Re: Tiff Compression request Post by: Ya Me on July 03, 2009, 11:40:52 PM "Thanks" Terry-M & Fred A
For explaining it so clear how to use the zip. Yes and thanks to Mike for putting it in:-))) I think I will learn more on this new forum than all the emails from the yahoo groups. So back to rubber necking:-))) Ya Me |
