I have a hardware adjusted screen and my ipf6100 Canon prints very close to what I see, color, contrast, shadow and highlights are very good.  But I've often wondered why when I ask Qimage to softproof (Right click on thumbnail, soft proof), the proof image is pale and washed out, and the original looks perfectly Ok and the subsequent print looks like it.

I expected the "Original" to look poor and the "Proof" to look terrific.  Have I just got the terminology wrong, or what?

Everyone has that same feeling about softproofing.
Here's a link to a previous group of posts on the same subject/question.

You can see you aren't alone, and I stand by my comments, and Seth's, that nothing takes the place of a print for judging your final work.
It's just a guess made by your computer based on less than perfect information.

I feel exactly the same way. I have a new computer system with a new Canon 6300 printer. Both monitor and paper/printer have been profiled with a new Colormunki.  If i softproof in CNX2 or Qimage the softproofs always look washed out. The prints themselves really look nice. I have just learned to ignore softproofing and it save a bunch of time and frustration.
