v2010.102     11/20/09

Priority: Low

v2010.102 adds canvas mirror borders/edges to the Studio Edition.  See the  help under "Qimage Functions", "Borders" for more info.

Thanks Mike for adding this... I am missing something though.  I want to print to file and the main part to be 24"x36" with a .6" border tried it all sorts of ways and I just seem to be getting little strips of image called imageName(1,1) imageName(2,1) etc and the main image.  Any ideas.. I still need to drag the file into Photoshop so I can place my guide lines so PTF is my first step.  It seems to be freaking out that I set the PTF dimensions to 24x36 and then tell it to print a border.  I would expect that the print to file image would increase it's dimension and plus show the border.

Also it appears that PTF is stripping the profile from the file when saving TIFFS.

This part of your question I can probably shed some light.
When you print to file, you are offered two choices.
One is to make a file for the web, and the other to make a file for printing.
The web defaults to sRGB as it should, and the Print to File for printing, tells you that it is going to use your printer profile from Prtr ICC.
So, if there is any specific profile that you want to have embedded in your Print to File, simply place that profile in the PRTR ICC box before using Print to File.
It works, TIF ot JPG

It sounds suspiciously like your requested print size is larger than the print to file page size, and Qimage is making it in to a poster form.
You might want to have a peek at the sizes.
Also remember that adding a + border of .6 inches will increase the print request size by 1.2 inches in each axis.
This might help.

You can get guide marks and crop marks in Qimage. I thought in the recent beta, it gave them for the borders too, but it does not for the current version. Imnsho, I think a pencil and ruler would be quicker than going into anything Adobe ;-), just for finding centre lines or why.

Best wishes,

Ray

Hi Fred,

You are correct... It was late and I goofed up some of the settings...  Goes to show that I am still a novice with Q.  So any hints on getting those guide marks Smiley

The beta and the current version are identical in that regard.  They both allow guide and crop marks.

What I was seeing was crop marks to the outside of the border, and also to the inside of the border. I now realise  it was for the instances where I had dropped an original sharp image on top of a blurred one with borders - i.e. it is crop marks, not fold/crease/border marks.

Best wishes,

Ray

ps where I've said crop marks  it is referred to in Qimage as 'guide lines'
