Mike

Security watchers have found a virus that detects source code for Delphi developers that injects the virus code into the source code so that developers inadvertantly add virus code into their products.  I don't know if you were aware of it or not.

There is an article on e-week at http://www.eweek.com/c/a/Security/Security-Researchers-Find-Virus-Targeting-Delphi-Programs-635420/?kc=EWKNLNAV08212009STR3

I wouldn't want my favorite printing tool to fall prey.

Thanks.

Wow, I've had AVG pick that up in Fookes Software Mailbag Assistant, despite the program version being installed since the 3rd August.
I had a very rapid response from AVG (I sent the virus to them) saying it was not a false positive and from Fookes with a confession/apology and a link to a clean version.

Unfortunately this is not a false positive. This virus was just found by antivirus companies a few days ago. It seems to only affect Delphi compilers which is how it got into Mailbag Assistant. As soon as we
found out about it we removed it and recompiled Mailbag Assistant. You can download the new virus-free version from: .....
Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you. You can read more about the virus at:

Thanks for the post, at least I knew what they were talking about.

Thanks for letting me know.  It's great to have people watching out for me.  I did not know about this virus but have checked into it since your post.  We run both NOD32 and MalwareBytes Anti-Malware here.  No way for the virus to get through that combination so you can rest assured Qimage is safe.  Smiley

This is diverting away from Qimage now, but just as a follow up:

AVG later twice picked up the Delphi virus, (Win32/Induc), in a System folder, related to System Restore I think, not surprising I suppose if a restor point is created when a new program is installed.

Out of curiosity I ran a quick scan with the free version of MalwareBytes Anti-Malware and that found a couple of items on my XP desktop and a couple more with a full scan. As the program is cheap with lifetime upgrades, I bought 2 licences for my computers.
I wonder sometimes how much security software is needed to be totally  "clean" and "safe".  Huh?
Something for another thread!

You welcome Mike,

I wouldn't want anything to get in the way of my beloved qimage!
