This would allow us to subscribe to that topic and get an email about the software update.
Tom,
In case you are not aware, when opening Qimage, if a new version is on Mike's server, ready for download, you can see the notice at the top of the Qimage main screen and download right from Qimage.
I still like your idea too.
Many times, I am so engrossed in what I am doing, that I don't see the new version notice. Then again, I would likely miss the email too. Smiley
Maybe Mike needs an audible when we open Qimage when a new version awaits.

5342  Mike's Software / Qimage / Re: Retrieval of Floating Text and independant rotation of image. on: July 05, 2009, 09:20:05 AM
Another solution is to set the rotation to 0 or -90 degrees in the floating text box.
I placed 5 images into the queue, making 5 pages, alternating portrait and landscape images.
I can place my text perfectly using that method.

Best to you all.

Since I an really new at forums (my first experience), I don't know the mechanics of it.
I saw that some of the "ills" were cured by deleting the related cookies to the forum.
I can't even tell you if there is such a thing relative to the problem.
Mike will likely be "off" for the holiday weekend, but eventually he will read your post and reply with some helpful suggestion.
Hang in there.

I am not sure if this particular TV show was aired outside of the US. You can enlighten me.
The show was called Home Improvement starring Tim Allen.
Tim had a next door neighbor named Wilson Wilson. The comedic part of the neighbor's role was that somehow, more than half of his face was *always* obscured either by a fence or a flower pot or some camera angle.
We never really saw his face throughout the years that the show ran on TV.

Now I call your attention to the posts from Terry-M. Looking at his profile photo, the camera and lens *always* obscure his face.
Do we have another Wilson Wilson in our midst?   Cheesy Grin Shocked Undecided

Ken,
I really don't have an answer, only a question.
Perhaps you inadvertently clicked on Mark all messages as READ?
You can use this reply to test the system again and see if ut is working now.
Otherwise, we wait for Mike.

Once the e-mail copies have been produced, accept the option to go to the {Q}E-mail folder and then "Explore". Next, select the images & create the zip from the right click menu. Finally, select and right click the zip folder and choose "Send To" your e-mail program.
Not as neat as a "dot in the box" but it saves you opening Explorer outside of Qimage.

Terry, what a brilliant idea you gave me. For some reason, I never even thought of that.
I must tell you though, my setup works even better and slicker.
No need for explore current folder from Utilities. I open Folders in Qimage and .....
I right click on the {Q}email folder that contains the images, and I have a selection that says, PKZIP; add to archive new or existing; or ZIP and EMAIL!
One click, I get a zip save box. I name my zip file, and click SAVE. All done!
Q saves in the same folder or you can choose a different one.
Thanks for adding that zip feature so quickly, Mike!  Grin Grin Grin
Seriously for a moment!  Isn't it wonderful how a simple exchange of ideas can produce a new facility in a wonderful program like Qimage?

5348  Technical Discussions / Printers / Re: Wide format printers on: July 02, 2009, 09:46:21 AM
Ernst,
I think what Terry is pointing out are issues that HP as yet hasn't resolved.
One, no banner mode to allow the user to make panos and extra large prints that exceed the driver limitations.
Two, and even more important, the propensity of the Z series to rescale prints and reposition prints on the paper *after* Qimage has sent the correct printing information.
There was another issue, whose details escape me at the moment, but it had to do with Qimage remembering the driver settings when exiting or when saving a printer setup.
I think the driver allowed some settings to be saved and sone were altered by the HP software which messed up the saving of the settings.
To the best of my recollection, Qimage conforms to certain accepted standards, be they Windows or drivers or email etc.
When the manufacturer of an item decides to run his product outside of the standards, there will be compromise, but certainly no blame on Qimage.

Best to you.

5349  Mike's Software / Qimage / Re: Strange email sending behaviour on: July 01, 2009, 10:01:13 AM
Not sure if folks are aware of this feature in Qimage, but if you click on Utilities, the first item in the dropdown list says OUTBOX, Mail sent from Qimage.
That will give you an accurate list of what actually was sent that way.
It even helps me remember if I sent a picture to someone: did I send this to John?
The Qimage sent email with pix doesn't show as sent mail in Outlook express so this feature is a blessing for me as  Wink  I get older.

Mike,
I assume that the amount of (minutes) video depends on the memory card?
What is currently available in terms of gigabytes/time at what resolution?
Really sounds like things to come in our future.

 Cool
I don't want to add to Mike's load of plans, but along the lines of your request, I was thinking of a Q-ZIP option in that same box where multiple images can be compressed and zipped in one operation.
Just another dot in that box?
Maybe using (coupling to) PKZIP and WINZIP, or a Qimage zipped file compatible with all zips?

As a result
of the successful launch of Galerie Smooth we have had a high demand for
profiles and we are working to clear the backlog.

I just reread your post.
So there will be new profiles being made for Ilford's new paper line.
That's good news!  I just wish they would use simpler names for their profiles for my old head.!

Obviously, if the profiles were really the same, they would have no backlog to clear; just downloads; like Qimage  Wink

5353  Mike's Software / Qimage / Re: Demo Evaluation on: June 27, 2009, 01:43:10 PM
I forgot to mention that, (to the best of my knowledge) (Mike to clarify), the smart sharpen is set to a 5 default. Should be fine. But, if I recall correctly, the level of Smart Sharpen that you want to use is determined by how your prints look with some trial and error.
If you start to see any halos around leaves with a blue sky background: too much SS.
Depends on the printer.
Mike will sort it all out for us.

Should I be able to see a "smart sharpen" label in the edit window, or is the smart sharpen functioning as designed in the background because it is turned on in the preferences?

Hi Eljae,
I'm not exactly sure what you are asking, but note in the attachment that the level of Smart Sharpen does show in the main screen properties box under Job Properties. You must have that propery box open to see it.
Mike will clarify all else.

5355  Mike's Software / Profile Prism / Re: Silverfast Ai Studio scanning software on: June 27, 2009, 10:59:51 AM
I'm no expert here, but I use Vuescan as my software, and I make a raw scan saved as a Tif.
Si it is likely that Silverfast should work.
Perhaps Mike will clear it up, and perhaps someone using Silverfast can corroborate.
