Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Epson 4800 printing larger paper than set in QimageUltimate

Thanks, Fred. I should mention that my actual goal is to print on a 17x20 sheet; I set up this job @ 17x19 to compensate for the additional inch that's been creeping in ;-)
I would like to be able to set up custom roll paper sizes using the User Defined dialogue, save them, and print with confidence that the output will match the setup. Usually this has worked, but occasionally jobs print an extra inch. This is one of them.
I notice I haven't checked Optimize Enlargement or Reduce/Enlarge>Fit to Page, and I have set my User Defined page width @ 17.00 inches (not 17.01), then saved it with 17x19 as its name which appears in my driver options. Not sure if that's an issue.
Also, I had been avoiding checking Reduce/Enlarge>Fit to Page in case that might cause the image to resize from what I have set up in the Full Page Editor.
When I do check Reduce/Enlarge>Fit to Page for my 17x20 roll paper size (the size I actually want to print on), I now see "User Defined -> User Defined" showing up in the driver. Page size showing as 16.998x19.998 in upper right. Unfortunately, this still prints an additional inch, i.e. 21" instead of 20".
PS I am using version 2016.158 now.

I am possibly missing something painfully obvious, but puzzled. I have set up an image to print 13.08" x 11.02" centred on 17" x 13" roll paper. For some reason it keeps printing the image at the correct size, but on 17" x 18" roll paper. screen shots attached.

I'm able to print with fewer errors and crashes now, but still getting some occasionally, as attached. Some don't cause any havoc; others crash Qimage. Generated when clicking Open to retrieve a saved job, or clicking OK to print a saved job.

Thanks very much for the suggestions. "Analyze" yields "Analysis complete. No potential conflicts in settings found!" Shift-"Analyze" yields Start: 2147 MB Addl: 1005 MB Now: 2146 MB I only find 4 ini files in my C:\ProgramData\ddisoftware\Qimage folders: icm.ini, qimagepr.ini, qimage-u.ini, sizes.ini. Possibly missing a file here? I Reset Printer Settings and a test print came out ok with no errors or crashes while clicking various icons. So far so good I then printed a Saved Job to see if it caused trouble, and it was fine. However, I'd like to know how to utilize my Saved Jobs if I do run into issues with saved jobs, i.e. how to avoid having to rebuild them all from scratch. don't load any saved jobs or setups as they could have corrupted driver settings. Be careful with those parrots!

Now I'm getting these errors by clicking the Print icon and "OK", then exiting the program. Also, some of the errors are freezing the program. Sometimes I can relaunch the program and use it; other times it's barely functional and I have to restart my system.

Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / access violations

Recently I've been getting access violation messages when doing something simple in Qimage Ultimate such as clicking the Recall icon to open a saved print job after having printed a different job, or clicking the printer setup icon. Is this a memory issue? Qimage Ultimate v2016.130 Windows 7 Pro 64 bit Epson 4000 Intel Core2 Duo @ 3 GHz 4 GB RAM

Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / QU printing solid black instead of image - a memory related issue?
|
on: August 22, 2015, 11:55:30 PM

In recent versions of QU (e.g. going back to 110) I've noticed that once in a while, if I am running several memory-intensive applications at the same time, such as Illustrator, QuarkXPress, Photoshop, Firefox, etc., QU will print an RGB TIFF or PSD file that contains layers and/or alpha channels entirely black. The problem generally goes away if I shut down the other applications and flatten the file, then resave it and replace the original file with the new, leaner version. But on my wish list would be a capacity for QU to return a low memory error and *not* print a job instead of proceeding to print a big area of black ink(s) if I'm not paying close attention to the outfeed tray of my printer. Not sure if this is possible to build in, but it would be very nice ;-)
Today it happened again trying to print a layered PSD file that had one alpha channel, just 30.2 MB in size. Flattened it, removed the alpha channel and resaved it as a 10.3 MB TIFF (LZW); shut down a couple of apps, and it printed normally.
