Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: RAW support for Sony RX100 and possible color profile?

Hi Terry, I looked at the Wolf Faust website that sells these ( http://www.targets.coloraid.de/); would I buy the C1 target? And Mike--if you're reading this--are you on board with my doing this? Liz Hi Liz, Also--is there anything I can do to help create a color profile to be available here for RX100 users? You need an IT8 target like the one show attached below. They are not very expensive if ordered from Wolf Faust in Germany; that is where Mike gets his from for Profile Prism. He would probably sell you one too. Once you have a target you need to e-mail Mike (DDI support) for full instructions on how to take the photograph of the target. It's not difficult but Mike's guidelines must be followed. You then send the image to Mike, he makes a profile and you get it free. Terry

Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / RAW support for Sony RX100 and possible color profile?

Hi--
So I bought and downloaded the latest version of Q.U. I was able to do something with a RAW image from the Sony RX100. However, it appeared washed in green, which I was partially able to remove, while my Olympus XZ-1 RAW images never appeared tinted even before doing RAW refinement. So I assume this tint is a function of the RX100's not yet being supported.
I know that dcraw does support this camera now, so I am wondering-- any idea when it will be supported by Q.U.?
Also--is there anything I can do to help create a color profile to be available here for RX100 users?
Thanks.
Liz

Mike's Software / Qimage Studio Edition (archived) / RAW for Sony RX100 + Qimage Studio
|
on: August 28, 2012, 01:33:15 PM

Hi--I use Qimage Studio, and though I tried Ultimate I realized that Studio is more than enough for my needs. But then I got a new, not-yet-supported camera, the Sony RX100.
Mike, will support for RAW images from the Sony RX100 be added to Studio? At this point Studio sort of sees them, but it loads up a green tinted image. ACR just released a beta version which supports the camera, so I know the image isn't green.
I am wondering if I will have to upgrade to Ultimate if I want to use RAW editing with images taken with the Sony RX100?
Thanks for all you do,
Liz

Technical Discussions / Printers / Re: Printer Recommendations please?

Thanks. I will do that, but I think I know the steps: I have cleaned the heads multiple times, and still get faint banding, and the feed is becoming slightly erratic. There is a local Epson printer repair place (Mardek--they are great), and I can try them, too, but with printer #1 the cost of replacing the parts was about as high as the cost of a new printer...

Technical Discussions / Printers / Printer Recommendations please?

Hi,
It's been a while since I've posted here. I've been a happy Qimage user for years, and a happy Epson Photo Stylus R800 user for about as long. I love that printer so much that when my first one died, I bought a refurbished replacement from Epson--that was probably a year or two ago. Now that one is showing signs of frailty, and I am starting to think about what's next. I wish I could use my existing store of cartridges, but I realize that only another obsolete model (the R1800, I think) uses the same ones. So I realize I have to give that up.
I don't need 13" width, particularly, but it's okay if that's a feature, and I don't need wireless. I do want a printer that prints great quality photos as well as decent text--it's my one printer. I don't need fax/scanning capabilities. I am open to Canon printers, but not HP, for complicated reasons I don't want to go into here.
I see that Mike has the R1900. Thoughts about that? Others?
I am not a professional; I'd like to stay under $450 if possible..........
Thanks!
Liz

Thanks to both of you. I am quite comfortable with Vista, but I always like to know what's up with these newfangled operating systems!
As for Mac, I now own an iPod Touch, after being a Palm user for years. I can totally see why folks fall in love with the esthetics of Macs--they are sooooo cute!

I don't think I'll ever go Mac, although with Windows 7, I came close! Mike Why, Mike? Does Windows 7 seem to be awful in some way? Liz Oh, I just found your article on the fun you had installing Windows 7. I think I'll stay with Vista, since it is properly behaving for me! Liz
