When I got the error the cache had already been built the day before for the folder. One time when it happened The busy circle thing was spinning for about a minute or two and I was clicking and trying various different things to get out of editor mode. I got out and the busy circle was still spinning and I started clicking on things and after about 30 seconds it stopped and everything was normal. The last time it happened similar, except when I got back to the main window my image was not showing on the print page (it was blank) and my thumbs weren't showing in the browser. I then selected undo from the menu bar and my correctly cropped image showed up on the print page and my thumb nails were back in the browser and everything was fine but the whole interruption took about 3 - 5 minutes to resolve.

I have started getting the abstract error as well with version 113.  It seems to be related to opening the edit window and doing a crop or adjusting the crop of an image. It doesn't happen every time I do a crop.

It would also be helpful if the preview image size could be larger so you see more of the image (I am not talking about the 1x, 2x etc).

When I click and hold the filter toggle button it flashes on and off. Is that the way it is supposed to work? I was thinking it would be good to have that button in the main edit window because you already have the slider in the preview window and don't have it flash. Press it once it is on or off, press it again and it does the opposite.

OK. That sounds good since I have been upgrading camera about every 2 - 3 years.

Can I get a refund on the 7D profile I just bought after buying Ultimate? I was also a long time Studio user.

I copied it from the C drive Qimage data folder to the D drive folder and the error is gone. I guess when I migrated it did not migrate that file.

Error when converting Raw file to Tiff. Originally refined Raw file when data was on C drive. Then migrated data to D drive. When I tried to convert raw file to Tiff I received the following error message "Cannot open file "D:\Qimage Data\q.bmp". The system cannot find the file specified."

Well, I already had one profile, and bought another for the other camera I use. Just think if you paid the $17 Mike could concentrate on adding some new features to Ultimate that would probably be well worth that $17 plus the money spent on Ultimate Smiley

Thanks. That works. Also the CPU hogging is fixed now that I set the priority for Qimage to be normal again.

I don't quite understand the improvements besides building the Raw cache faster. It still uses 100% of the 4 cores on my 3.7GHz PC and basically stops me from using the computer for much else until it is done. It would be helpful if in preferences you put a user changeable entry for percent of CPU usage dedicated to Qimage so you could use the computer for other things while it is building the thumbs and raw cache.

Andy

Two things on that.  First, that's already there: go to "Edit", "Preferences", "Hyper Processing", "Hyper Thumbing" and change it to dual.  Then it will only use 2 of your 4 CPU's, although I'm not sure why anyone would want to do that since if you have 4 CPU's, why not use all of them?  Second, the background processes are already set to lower priority so when they are running on my quad core system using all 4 CPU's, I can still do other things without any problem.  It does take a second or two longer to open another app but once that app is open and in the foreground, it runs nicely because it will gain priority on one CPU since the Qimage processes are lower priority.

When I migrate Qimage data to another hard drive using the menu utility the RawCache folder does not migrate.

Andy

That's intentional.  I didn't want to automatically migrate the raw cache because if it is a new system, it is very possible that the same (raw image) files don't exist on that system or may exist in different folders.  That would cause the much larger raw cache to be copied to a new system and potentially cause all of the cached files to be "orphans".  I didn't worry about that too much with thumbs because they are very small but I didn't want to migrate the raw cache automatically since that cache is much larger.  I figured if people really know that their raws will be under an identical directory structure on the new system, that folder could be done manually.  Perhaps in a future version, I can offer the choice though along with an explanation.

Mike

Does that mean I can create a RawCache folder on my D drive and Qimage will use it if it is there?

You just jogged my memory. A few months ago when I was having a problem with my Epson driver and trying to figure it out I set the processing priority on Qimage in Task Manager to High. I just set it to Normal and will see if that helps with being able to do other things when the Raw Cache is being built. The Epson driver issue was resolved and not related to processing priority.

Well, I just migrated my data to the D drive and it appears Qimage does not migrate the RawCache folder. Also, after migrating, and then viewing a raw file in Qimage, it didn't create a RawCache folder in the new location on the D drive. Is this an oversight when Mike added lightning raw to Ultimate and added a RawCache folder?

Oops! I meant to type I have 5.5 TB of disk space.
