1  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Unclog problems on: November 19, 2017, 02:51:55 AM
I discovered the problem. As mentioned earlier, I can delete the printer but it doesn't stay away. Using the Reset Print Unclog Settings option under Help doesn't work either. It deletes all entries in the unclog drop down list except for the missing WF-7610 printer.

When I select the old (missing) printer from the drop down list I get the error message shown in Unclog1. Some investigation shows that I can delete entries for printers that I have, but not for the printer that no longer exists.

So QImage is getting derailed when trying to deal with a non-existent printer.

I poked around and found the files shown in Unclog2 in QImage's Save directory. I manually deleted them and all is well now.

Open unclogger. Scroll to the printer you with to delete
Click the RED X
See screen snap

Yes, that deletes it from the list. But it doesn't stick. After I shut down and restart QImage the old printer is back in the list.

As to double scheduling, not able to work that way. Either make bothe same, or do one manually

Fred

I guess I'll have to do manual scheduling for the second printer. At least until Mike adds multiple scheduling.
3  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Unclog problems on: November 18, 2017, 09:22:09 PM
I replaced an old printer with a different model. The old printer has been deleted from Windows list of printers. But I am unable to delete the old printer from the unclog list. More accurately, I can delete it and it no longer shows in the list but when I close and restart QImage the old printer is back in the list.

Is it possible to set up a different schedule for each printer? I would like to schedule every 3 days for my Epson P7000 and every 7 days for my Epson WF-7620.

My first thought was that you should ask those people that said you need a RIP to explain exactly why a RIP is necessary for you. I suspect you won't get a clear answer.

I've been using QImage with my 7900 for years with great results in print quality and layout flexibility. Lots of people have commented on how good the prints look. Nobody has said that if only I had used a RIP it would be a great print.

The one advantage available in at least one RIP (can't remember which one) is that they take advantage of the orange and green inks of the 7900 to minimize the use of yellow ink. Apparently yellow ink has the highest fade rate of any of the inks. So minimizing the use of yellow means somewhat longer print life for any image that would normally use yellow ink.
5  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Question on print unclog pattern on: August 18, 2015, 04:16:33 AM
It works well with my Epson 7900, a 24" printer.

I buy 24 inch by 150 foot rolls of HP plain paper. A roll costs something like $10 and lasts forever. In fact, I'm still on my first roll.

I define a page size of 24 inches wide by 6 inches high and select all colors appropriate for the 7900. That's about 300 pages of unclog patterns per roll.

QImage knows to do something  useful with that odd page size and it all just works.

Since I can go days without printing, it is handy to know that the printer will be ready to print another 6 inches of paper every morning without my having to remember to put paper in it.

That's an approach I hadn't thought of. Convert the image to bmp which doesn't support any meta data and then convert it back to jpeg.

I'd just as soon not get another utility if I can get by with QImage.

Is QImage able to strip gps info from the exif? If so, where would I find it?

If not, how about adding that feature to the create web size/email copies? Perhaps 3 choices: remove gps only, all exif, or leave it as is.

Windows is supposed to have the ability to remove fields from the exif, but it doesn't work on my Windows 7/64 system. I don't know why.

8  Mike's Software / Profile Prism / Re: weak blacks on: December 17, 2014, 05:38:40 PM
Using the latest Profile Prism and Vuescan instead of the Epson scan software I created a new profile and then adjusted the saturation up a bit and the brightness down some.

It is now better.  I'd say acceptable to most people. It suffers in comparison to my Epson 3880 and 7900 printers, but that is to be expected. At least I can run off a quick 4x6 for people without having to fire up my 3880 or 7900.

After making a profile for my Epson WF-7610 (4 pigment ink printer), the colors look good but the blacks are weak. Like the left end of the histogram stops well short of the left (0) edge.

How should I go about editing the profile to correct this?

I have Profile Prism v6.5 and have just renewed support in order to get the latest, although the order hasn't been processed yet.

10  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Can this be added to the Unclogger? on: August 27, 2014, 04:34:42 PM
I use a 24 inch roll of HP plain paper and a page size of 24 wide by 6 inch. I wasn't sure if the unclog software would deal with the 24x6 page size, but it works fine.

Another feature request: add the date and time to the unclog print. If I leave my printer alone for days, a pile of 24x6 strips will accumulate under the printer. With the date and time stamp I'd know the timeline of any head clogging.

For one at a time, the easiest is to use InstaView (left click and hold). Not as fast as the status bar info display though.

12  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: File info on status bar on: March 17, 2014, 03:13:12 PM
Since it wasn't working for me last night I assumed the feature was gone or broken and didn't investigate further.

Since it still works for Fred and Terry I looked into it today and found out that it works for me too in most cases. I was browsing folders on my camera club's laptop, something I do every month for processing to submit club photos for competition.

When browsing to a directory with a drive letter, it works. So: Y:\2013_14\201403\Competition works fine, as does any directory on my own local computer.

but this equivalent to the same location doesn't work: \\Ycc-pc\c\2013_14\201403\Competition. The same thumbnails are shown and everything seems to work the same except for the missing status bar info display.

I usually map the club's laptop to y: but last night for the first time, I didn't.

So is this a problem worth fixing? At least I now know how to get around the problem.

13  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / File info on status bar on: March 17, 2014, 05:32:30 AM
I often check the color space and dimensions of files by watching the status bar at the bottom while moving the mouse over the thumbnails. But apparently this nice feature has been lost in some recent update.

Is there a setting to bring it back? If not, how about a bug fix?

14  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Printing an 8-1/2 x 11 calendar with equal margins on: December 17, 2013, 12:52:48 AM
If the printer's margins aren't equal on all sides then you need to choose Center on Physical Page.

You can find it at: Edit/Preferences/Print and Page Formatting/Page Margins

That may be the problem in your case. Centering in the printable area isn't the same as centering on the physical page for most printers.

15  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Size limit on TIF image? on: December 01, 2013, 07:56:32 PM
It's probably related to the file size.

Under Help, hold down the shift key and then click on Analyze Current Settings.

That will tell you the current maximum memory available.

With my 64 bit Windows 7 system, it reports 2000MB, uncomfortably close to the 1.8GB size of your file.

Also, what are the pixel dimensions of your file?
