My question is:  Has the stand alone Flash Pipe been updated?

I should add to my message above that when I have the images printed, I have to change the color from RGB to CMYK because the setup is for their HP Designjet.

Let me try.  I don't own a printer.  I take my prints out.
I have found that Qimage has excellent sharpening algorithyms.
It also has an excellent algorithym for increasing the pixel size of a photo.
I have taken 3 MP photos produced by my old Fuji s602z and enlarged them to 16 x 20 inches and some larger.  Colleagues who have a very good sense of image quality enjoyed them very much.  They were not saying this to please me; they got me to set up a gallery exhibition.

While I have been photographing for a long time, I am a novice when it comes to digital printing.

Others will come in and explain this much better than I can.

Best,

Vlady

Fred,

Most enjoyable.  Got a real chuckle out of the sequence.

Terry,

I went through your series of cutouts and frames.  What a variety of uses.

You are right that it is best to click on "slideshow" to get an overview of 'a' to 'w'.

Best,

Terry-M,

No, I didn't ask a question.  I remembered this thread discussed the issue.  I didn't want to re-load QU, so I experimented.  So, my message is a report of what I experienced and did.

Mike,

Yes, I will renew and upgrade as soon as locate my credit card.

Thanks and best

Today I got the jpeg error #43.  I am using QU 2012.100--been negligent in renewing--don't worry.

When I got it, I created a new subfolder and moved all the jpegs there.  The original folder had the PP'd photos which were tiffs.  I reopened QU the same error.

Next I moved the jpeg subfolder and renamed it.  I reopened QU.  Same problem with tiff folder and with jpeg folder.

Finally, I moved the jpeg subfolder into another area with a new folder name.  I also deleted the old folder that had been created by QU.  I went back to QU and opened the tiff folder with no problems.  After I finished my QU work on the tiff files, I went to the new jpeg folder and opened it with no problems.

Hope I'm clear.

I too am not strong in post processing techniques.  I agree that oversharpening can produce halos.  So, I've had to redo photoss.

However, I think that there are two other factors that could produce halos:
1) ghosting;
2) photographing an object that has the sun behind it.  Here's an example.

Mike and Fred,

Many thanks for your quick work and solving the problem.  I now have v2011.126 and everything works well.

However, I should add that this morning I took some flower photos with the D40 in RAW.  I downloaded and developed them using QU v2011.124.  I then did some pp using PSE9. When I tried to use QU batch sharpening, the same thing happened as earlier.  Only this time there was no cropping, etc.   So, I downloaded the latest version and did it go smoothly.

This did not happened to me using earlier versions.  So, I'm going to recheck my PSE9 settings and re-read about colorspace.

Again,  thanks.  And yes, the Hoppy Easter Bunny did deliver some hardboiled eggs this morning and even had the audacity to photograph the flowers.

Mike,

One of the errant photo files has been sent.
Also, sent a copy to Fred, since he provided me with some ideas.

I tried to convert the TIF to JPG using QU, but had the same error.
I the used FastStone to create JPGs.  No problem.
Went back to QU to sharpen the JPGs.  Again no problem.

Mike,

I was finally able to duplicate the error.  I was using the batch option to sharpen 52 images.  The first one went through and then it stopped on the second image.  Here is a screen shot:

Fred,

Saving may be one of the problems.  Many of the photos were taken in raw, when processed they were saved as   JPGs.  When pp'd in PSE9 they were saved in TIF format and I noticed that some were being saved inwith LZW compression.  At first I changed some to None, but stopped doing so.

Thanks

Fred,

These files are TIF files because I make pp adjustments.  The originals were jpgs or RAW processed by QU.
They were made in PS Elements 9.

An image is on the way.

Thanks,

Vlady

I've been sharpening a number of photos using QU123 and then QU124.  I'm getting the following message:  "Tag may contain only ASCII string data".  The program quits processing the images and I have to cancel the process.

An interesting quirk happened a couple of days ago when I updated to QU124.  On that day all the images were processed.  However, since then the program gets hung up on the first image.

I uninstalled the program, rebooted the computer, and reloaded QU.  The problem continues.

First, I don't understand the message.
Second, I don't know what to do.
Third, I have a few hundred more photographs to sharpen.
Please provide guidance.  Thanks

Mile,

Thanks for this clarification.
