31  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Actual print size not matching expected output on: February 29, 2016, 04:01:07 PM
I always had the Epson preview turned off, never liked having to click on another button. Guess it's time to turn it on.  I've had this sort of thing pop up in the past and it seems to happen after playing around with autocrop, boarders and other related settings.

Thanks,

Ned

After changing to another paper of a different size with the same result I used a long forgotten command. Resetting all program settings cleared it up.  Wish I would have thought of that 4 sheets ago. Rather annoying that the preview window didn't show the error.

Sir,
The reason that Qimage didn't show the error was due to the error coming after Qimage sent the print to the driver.
The error was in the driver settings as shown by the resolution of 160 x 160.

I added a screen snap to show you that even inside the driver window, there is a sample showing what you described when you change the output size in the driver.

I've printed many, many images and can't understand what's going on here. I've just wasted four 17x22 sheets and I really don't like doing that.

Windows 10, EPSON 3880 Ultimate version 20161.40

My paper size is selected as 17x22
Custom print size with 17 entered as the long end
Hovering my mouse over the preview window shows a print of 16.98x11.32 @ 398ppi
Auto cropping is off
The image looks like it's centered in the preview window
I did the analyze settings command, no errors
The end result is an image with the approximate dimensions of 5x7.5 in the corner of my 17x22 sheet.
I've tried removing the image from the queue and re-selected custom print size with the same result.
Can't really test now since this was my last 4 sheets only one of which I needed for a Thursday show.  Angry
I love Qimage but man sometimes it does some wacky stuff.

Thanks Mike. I like to think I know what I'm doing, I work for the largest networking company in the world. I've spent hours on this and nothing I did would resolve it.  So this morning I start my compute and the stupid thing works.  Seriously? I'm sure it will crap out when I need it the most :-)

35  Technical Discussions / Printers / Epson 3880 Networking issues - Offline on: October 08, 2015, 02:37:40 PM
Moving my printer from USB to Ethernet. Using windows 10. I have my 3880 set manually for 192.168.1.111  I have reserved that IP address in my router (just in case) although it doesn't seem to matter. I can see and configure the printer by going to it's IP address or using the Epson network utility.

When I first install the Epson printer software it works over the network until I reboot. Then it shows off line in devices/control panel and the only way I can get it to work over the network is to reinstall the printer software. Even after the reboot I can ping the printers IP, I can see it using Epson's network utility (shows ready to print) and I can access the printer (and configure it) by going to it's IP address.

I have the printer set to use off-line which is set up by default and is suggested by Epson. I've deleted and added the TCI/IP port. Prints just sit in queue. Haven't called Epson yet...

I get the same error is there is something "wrong" with the image file name. Basically if it's too long...

Your rude comment was based on customers not responding to a fix in time frame that you feel is appropriate. Ever think people have other things to do than hover around the forum waiting for a fix to come out? When they don't, you call them complainers.

I have an android phone, and it pushes out bug fixes daily. According you your standards, If I don't respond by saying thank you to each and everyone of them within a day of the update that I am in inconsiderate s.o.b?

Don't need you to feel sorry for me, I'm doing just fine.

Fred,

I commented on this thread, so by association your comment was directed to me which I find rather rude. I say thank you by my continued payment of my subscription fee. Maybe give people some time to realize it's been fixed?

Even Windows Explorer has similar issues with selecting partially visible items and it has other issues as well like when you select/do something that takes a few seconds to complete, sometimes Windows Explorer thinks you still have the left mouse button pressed and when you scroll over the list it selects every item under the mouse as you scroll even though no buttons are pressed.  You have to click and release the left mouse button to get it to stop selecting.  I see that one all the time even on Windows 8!  I guess it's a glitch Microsoft never thought big enough to address but I'll see what I can do.  Wink

Mike

Thanks for the speedy fix Mike.
I personally know how many hours you spent to repair this somewhat trivial issue, especially making it work properly regardless of the font size or screen resolution of the user.
It amazes me though that people can spend 5 days complaining, and can't find 5 minutes to say thank you!

Thanks Mike, from those that appreciate!

Thanks. I was mentioned in the first post. It's the more annoying of the two  Grin

The issue is not so much that it lands on the page in the wrong orientation the issue is that when I use the arrow to turn the image to the correct orientation it turns the wrong way. Shouldn't it turn in the direction of the arrow? I don't think any amount of explanation can convince me that is should work that way  Grin
41  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Help troubleshooting a magenta cast on: October 13, 2013, 05:03:35 AM
Well actually, I just zeroed it out and it still looks good. Seems setting the color setting to normal instead of dark was the best solution for me.
42  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Help troubleshooting a magenta cast on: October 13, 2013, 04:59:17 AM
Thanks Mac,

I was able to neutralize the issue by going back in to the printer drive custom mode and moving the horz to -5. Looks like that got rid of the rest of the magenta.  Although I send my paper targets off to a service to get profiled I have been thinking of getting an I1 photo pro 2 and doing it my self but the cost has kept me from buying one. Oh, I had to look up burple in the urban dictionary :-)

Thanks,

Ned

has the 3880 got a B&W mode with various grey inks?
I see now from your screen shot you are using The Advanced B&W mode but why is "Custom" set? I don't know much about your driver but with B&W mode set I would think "automatic" would be needed? Hopefully someone else with this printer will comment.
Also, how is QU set for colour management; again I would think, let driver manage colour was appropriate.
You mentioned using a colour profile, is this relevant when set to the B&W mode?
Terry

Thanks for all of the feedback. I have it on custom mode because I set the color correction in the driver to darker. I typically like how that looks. Darker is magnifying the problem in this case. Setting back to automatic almost takes care of the magenta cast, but there is still a tiny bit there. I'll just use this as a learning opportunity and figure out what's going on.  By the way, I though once I started inkjet printing that I would be printing less than I do in the darkroom, not the case. I think I use more paper with inkjet than I ever did in the darkroom.

Cheers

How the heck does magenta get on a B&W print anyway?
Because you are using coloured inks - has the 3880 got a B&W mode with various grey inks?

However with both I have made a successful print at least once, the last three in a row were unsuccessful
That seems to indicate blocked nozzles, I suggest you do a check & clean.
Terry

I check before the start of each print run, no issues with blocked nozzles.
45  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Onscreen rotation issue on: October 11, 2013, 05:45:05 PM
I'll have to try your suggestions a little later and see how it works out for me.  What I don't want to have to do is remember to have to do something before I do something else.  Qimage is not necessarily open before I export to it so if I have to open Qimage, set it up first then go back and export then go back to Qimage again it won't be as smooth of a workflow as it could/should be.

Anyway, I will play with it.

Thanks.
