16  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Issue with changing the print size and Auto Roll Length on: February 25, 2020, 03:40:28 PM
Hello Fred
It's a Canon iPF9400
17  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Issue with changing the print size and Auto Roll Length on: February 25, 2020, 01:51:41 PM
hello,
I've got the Auto Roll Length turned ON.
I'm printing on a 24" roll and add an image to print which is about 16x12" original size.
I then go to increase the size to 20" on the short side using the Custom print size and specifying the SHORT side to be 20" (so the overall size will then be 20x30").
I've got Auto Cropping Off and Print Orientation Unlocked.
Still got the Auto Roll Length turned ON.

This is where the issue happens. when I click OK the print is increased in size but only to the width of the paper (in this case 24") making the image size about 24x16".
What I would expect to happen is the image rotates 90deg and the short side will then be 20" and the paper size automatically resized to fit the new image size.

If I turn Auto Roll Lenght Off and make the paper size something like 24x36" there's no problem and it behaves exactly how I would expect it to.

Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug?

John

Hello Mike,
Wow! Thank you so much! it's perfect!
That's going to save me so much time and work! again, thank you!

For me, the important bit is the size of the image.
But fair enough anyway.
Thanks for your help.

Hello Mike,
Many thanks for adding this feature! it is very much appreciated!

but, there's an issue I've noticed....
The size it's reporting is the image size plus the size of the information text. For instance, I've just printed an image that's 276mm deep but the info is saying 280mm which is the 276mm + 4mm of the text.

Also, this is more of a behaviour request....
Would it be possible when the image is printed with a border to have the info give the size of the image and the size of the image with the border? Like this -
filename.jpg 400.0mm x 300.0mm (420.0mm x 320.0mm incl. border): 300PPI

I hope that makes sense!

Many thanks for your time and effort!
John

Thanks Mike, and thanks Fred for your suggestions.

hello Fred
I have thought of that but it's the time factor. My feeling is it would be quicker to measure them with a rule.
23  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate Wish List / Image size option in the print info on: February 13, 2020, 11:49:05 AM
Hello Mike,
I suggested this back in 2017 so I hope I don't come across pushy but it's something that would be a great help for me!

Today I printed 20 images on a roll all different sizes which I then cut mats for (or mounts as we call them in the UK).

Because the prints were all different sizes I had to measure all of them individually so I could cut the apertures of the mats to the correct size. This is quite time consuming for me.
What would be great is if the size of the printed image could be an option in the Print Info to be printed below the image....
something like - Size  190mm x 125mm
or if it had a border - Size 190mm x 125mm / 210mm x 145mm incl. border

This is a feature that I would use on at least half of everything I print if it was available.
Many thanks
John

Thanks for your reply Terry.

Since your reply, I've been having a closer look at the difference between the two computer setups.... I've worked out that getting my new computer coincided with version 2019.116 with the new auto driver colour management settings feature in the printer profile - so old computer on v2019.115 - new computer on v2019.116 and above.

I've then worked out that for years I've had the Colour Mode in the printer driver settings set to 'Colour' and not 'No Colour Correction' which turns off all the printers colour correction.
But as I make my own ICC profiles it hasn't mattered as the profiles just make the colours right..... as long as I keep the Colour Mode in the driver set to 'Colour'

Of course, this went all wrong when the auto driver colour management settings was ticked 'on' as it then - quite rightly - turned the Colour Mode to 'No Colour Correction' without me noticing and to be honest I didn't even know what it did!!! (i do now Smiley )

So I set it back to my old but 'wrong' settings and it now seems to be printing nicely.

I think I now need to re-profile all my papers with the correct settings just to keep everything neat and tidy Smiley

Your reply has been most helpful as it made me re-look at the driver settings - many thanks Smiley

Hello
I just bought a new computer and installed the printer drivers, ICC profiles and qimage.

I have qimage set up exactly as I did on my old computer and using exactly the same ICC profiles....
But the prints are coming out a different colour (more yellow)

My printer is a canon iPF9400 and its happening with all the papers I use - about 5.

What am I missing? Surely the prints should come out exactly the same?

anyone got any ideas?
26  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Auto Roll Length.... Thank You! on: February 07, 2019, 10:09:44 AM
Hello Mike
I just wanted to say that the new auto roll length feature is brilliant!

I only ever print on rolls and so I now have this switched on all the time.

Keep up the excellent work!

What are the pros and cons between printing PSD or TIFF?

I use Photoshop to edit my images and then save as PSD to preserve layers, masks and the like.
I then save the image as a TIFF being lossless and use this file to print in Qimage.

Should I just print the PSD file and not waste my time saving a TIFF copy?

Just checked now I'm in front of my computer....
I was right, you can only have one page size per print job. when the paper length is set it sets all the pages to whatever the longest page needs.

hope that makes sense!
