Im working with QU demo; Im trying to set it up to print on Hahnemuhle fine art matte (I have the ICC profiles); if I try to select any of the "fine art" media types on 8.5X11.5, it forces me to change to "art letter (margin 35)".  If I select "matte photo" media type, 8.5X11.5 is accepted.

I have lots of premium Hahnemuhle paper I want to test.  Should I just keep it set on matte photo, and will the ICC profile provide the correct settings for fine art media, or am I just doing something stupid?...thanks

I have a similar driver here to have a look for you; a Canon Pro 9000 II

It does the same thing in this driver, but it appears that it forces a change of feed  Front Tray. It also wants to force a change (as you said) to Art Letter (margin 35)
It seems that this change is a*size* change and not a paper change.
You should notice that they do not even offer an 8.5 x 11 paper size for you to select.
They must have a reason for forcing that paper size. It allows a printable area of 8.24 x 8.0
So I would keep the profile, and the instructions on what paper to select (Fine Art Premium Matte) and make my print!

Hope I helped.

its just really stupid...canon sells 8.5x11.5 fine art paper, any other media of that size has no problem being accepted, it will fit in the printer just like any other 8.5x11.5 paper will...i dont get it!!!

It has 21 choices from which to select your paper type.
20 of them are happy with 8.5 x 11 paper size.
The only one that is not acceptable in 8.5 x 11 is the FINE ART MATTE.

There must be a reason, but you would have to ask Canon or perhaps even the paper manufacturer.
Maybe something as simple as being susceptible to roller marks, and allowing prints only where the rollers don't touch???

I printed a fantastic photo using ‘Museum Etching’ paper (my one Qimage print) and my border top and bottom is approximately 6mm, which made a pleasant change from the standard 35mm border. I have my own ICC profiles.

Hope this helps
