I think there is way of resetting that message - it has to be done once any internal pads are replaced anyway. If your printer does look too messy inside, you could perhaps re-set and carry on.

I read the page offered by Terry's link.
It talks about the reason for the tank and pads filling up.
Mainly, Borderless, and number of cleaning cycles.
Frankily, I have gone through enough printers; an HP 2000, a Canon i960, a 1280, an R 1800, and now an R 2000, that I think I can offer a fair opinion.
I think the basic premise of Epson's statement is correct.
If the nozzles and heads require cleaning that often, something like loss of pressure in the heads (leaking) is going on.
It might cause a Filled tank warning and a stoppage of the printer, and you might be able to squeeze a little more out of it, but for me, it is a signal to make printer funeral arrangements.

What I am trying to say is that the tank is a symptom more often than a cause.

The other day one of the colours air locked. A not infrequent occurrence. Primed the supply again and after a couple of attempts got the 'pad reset prog' to run now all appears well again.

I have placed the printer on a sheet of MDF just in case of an ink flood.
