It's common knowledge that HP has not developed a full feature driver for Win 7 instead suggesting a brain-dead "generic" driver with few features. That said, the real issue I have is not being able to center the printed image on a sheet of paper. E.g., an 8X10 print on letter-size paper is offset about 1/2 inch vertically and 1/4 inch horizontially. There is no "center" option in the driver dialogue. Then tried installing the Vista x64 driver and it improved a bit, but again, no center option.

I also tried using Virtual XP and the prints come out properly positioned on the XP driver, but it's slow as molasses and the network connection keeps dropping. Since I have other printers and computers on the network I don't want to USB hard-wire the printer.

Does anybody have any suggestions? I don't want to dump this printer because of the beautiful output and the stock of paper and ink I have on hand.

Thanks

Have you seen Mike's article here:

Not exactly the same model but it may give you some clues.

Mike,
Are you still using the 8850 a year late. I just acquired one and with Qimage my prints are (after some expensive trial and error) beautiful. If you are still using it...any updates on your experience?  Finally, I saw that someone said HP is leaving this segment of the market. Has anything happened to change that observation?
Thanks,
Riebs
