1  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Deleting Export File Folders on: May 29, 2021, 07:43:47 AM
Is it possible to not have these folders created in the first place?
ACTUALLY, the folders install (empty( when Qimage is installed/
So even if we delete the folder, wen you install a new version, there will be a new folder.
2  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Deleting Export File Folders on: May 28, 2021, 04:55:59 PM
s there a quick & easy way to remove all the export file folders? Navigating to their location under ProgramData reveals a grayed out "Delete" button in Windows Explorer. I deleted everything via Utilities>Manage Disk Usage, but the folders and files remain. It really can't be this hard, can it? Wink
Hi Alan,
The proper way to clean out the Export folder is UTILITIES  EXPLORE EXPORT FOLDER, and delete what you wish.

3  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: flt file line meanings on: April 27, 2021, 07:45:09 AM
Is there a template or other document that I can go to to see what the various line entries in *.flt files are controlling? Is the format different for the pre-defined filters and the .flt files generated in the file directory with the image(s)? They seem to be slightly different. Can an .flt file generated for an image be used as a global filter?
This is easy but many faceted.
1) Just hover the mouse pointer over the thumb file name as long as it is red or purple, and you will see the filters in use.
1a) You can also right click the thumbnail and select Remove Filters and you can then selectively choose to remove all or one.

The Predefined filters are essentially the same except that some simple ones are premade for you, and/or you can make your own, and save it to be used as a  filter you like.
For example, I like to use a FADE OVAL cutout a lot to cover background clutter. In the Editor, I selected my fade oval and using FILE menu, saved it as a predefined filter with a name.
The neat part is that I can right click on any thumbnail image, select PRE DEFINED FILTERs and apply it from there.

2) Global filters:  Tricky.   It will be applied as a single filter as you print, but any other filters you associated  with that image will be ignored.
Use sparingly as the help file advises.
Hope this helps.
4  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Write access denied on: April 12, 2021, 08:43:39 AM
I'm repeatedly getting a "Write access denied" Error message while navigating through print options. I may have unintentionally reassigned a default directory a week or so ago while trying to save some settings, but this seems to be new. The attached jpg is the message that pops up. Any suggestions as to how to get things back to normal?
Two easy methods come to mind..
One is to reinstall QU and this time, pay attention to the options of where you want QU to default to saving.

It will likely remember that you changed it, so pay attention and set it to the default:::: There are two defaults for two parts.
Attachment screen snap 120 shows where Qimage wants its opening files to be.
Snap 121 is where you can tell QU that you have a special location chosen to save the files.
The default is shown in 121.
The other method is to click Utilities in QU and select MIGRATE..... you will get snap 119. Follow through on that.
5  Technical Discussions / Computer Software / Re: Hot Folder & Multiple Printer Functionality on: April 10, 2021, 09:11:12 AM
I want to be able to create hot folders that point to specific printers - is this possible from within Q-Image?

I know we have hot folders, but I never messed with them so perhaps some one that dies yse Hot Folders can chime in.
If not,, I'll see if I can arouse Mike.
6  Technical Discussions / Printers / Re: Best purge settings for Pro 1000 on: April 09, 2021, 05:43:22 PM
New to Qimage just yesterday and new to the Canon Pro 1000 (which I havenít received yet, back ordered)
Iíve been ready all this stuff about cleaning cycles of the printer and my question is.
Are there ultimate purge settings and a print patterns that will be best suited for this print to reduce ink waste as well as exercise the printer to keep it running smoothly?
And can these purge sheets be printed just on normal paper stock or should it be a photo paper of some type?

Sorry if there is a thread for this somewhere, if there is just point me into the correct direction.

Dont worry about previous threads, answering is the imporftant part with a solution hopefully.
You can use crappy copy paper for the print We are only telling the Unclogger, that we have glossy so to ake sure it will use the glossy black ink, if it had two blacks. Same goes for making a second profile to print using matte paper....... so it will use MK blick.
As for you often, you determine that by how long the printer is idle and does it need an UNCLOG yet?

7  Technical Discussions / Computer Software / Re: HP profiles stopped working. on: April 09, 2021, 08:56:56 AM
aThanks Fred. I may load Win 8 onto a spare computer and see what happens.

I dunno.. W 8.1 was sort of a greased ladder to W 10
Do you have a W7?   I would simply try a profile that comes free with the printer driver and match to the paper.
8  Technical Discussions / Computer Software / Re: HP profiles stopped working. on: April 08, 2021, 09:00:47 AM
All my profiles have degraded and now produce only badly faded prints. Some are from HP and some are my own using i1Studio and their hardware. All worked well about a year ago.   The only decent print I now get is using "Let printer manage colors" and the Adobe RGB.
Because this effect  happens in Qimage and Afinity and Lightroom I suspect Win 10 updates. Is this a known problem and what might fix it?
Many thanks for any guidance,
Hard to tell what to blame, but you obviously have a grasp of the situation.
Are we talking about camera profiles or printer profiles?
I suspect printer profiles.
Every so often there is a color management upgrade included in Qimage. If memory serves, it is a .dll file like LCMS.dll.
As you stated, Windows 10 updates have messed me up a good number of times too.So my guess, either your profiles are off due to color management upgrades, or they became corrupted during a W 10 update, but Adobe RGB is OK, sort of points to the profiles that you made.
All printers I know of now offer profiles free. Match the paper, and test it.
Hope some of this helps.
9  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: 1/0 Error 105 on: April 07, 2021, 09:20:47 AM
Tried to save an image that I had just sharpened  in Qimage, to a folder in my computer but failed and got the message '1/0 Error 105'.

Any idea what this means?
Don't know your fille location setup, but one thing for sure, that sharpening adjustment  is saved in a file with the same name as the image, but with an /flt suffix.
It  is saved with the image file in the same folder so it is found and opened when image is called.
Your error message usually indicates that there is no access to where you told QU to save. Look for a Hard drive not turned on... like that
10  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Soft proof paper checkbox? on: March 11, 2021, 01:04:53 PM
When I select Soft proof / print preview a 'paper' checkbox is shown (see attached screenshot).

I can't find what the purpose of this checkbox is, nor can I see the effect on the soft proof when I check or uncheck it.

Can someone please enlighten me?
I believe that's your switch. Want to see the print paper profile? On screen view?
11  Mike's Software / Qimage Studio Edition / Re: color shift problem on: March 09, 2021, 10:15:59 AM
I have spent two long days trying to correct this overall green color cast in my prints.  I am frantic as I have a show in 3 days and I canít make an acceptable print (with images already printed months/years ago)
Many possibilities....  INK. Any nozzle clogs?
YOUR SETUPS...  Driver settings for the paper?Huh?
Try to make  a print after manually setting  the driver for your usual: Color management OFF,  Quality *best* Paper selection is manually set correctly.
(It is not unheard of that some SAVED setting in 'jobs" to become corrupted, Thn make sure then printer profile is correct and up to date. If this fixes, just SAVE.
Have you tried a different paper? Possible Red River changed the coating and now offers a new profile
Also, if memory serves me, the 3800 has a B&W selector on its front. See if those are green too>

Try some of this.
12  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate Wish List / Re: Help system on: February 27, 2021, 11:32:06 AM
However: Iím either overlooking a ďsearchĒ function or it is not available. Once youíre in the right menu, the video button gives clear instructions. But, what if you want to do something/perform some special action but you donít know which menu-option to use? So: is there any searchable index (like keywords, topics, etc.) on the video instruction system? If so: where to find it?
Your point is well taken, but as you say, you want to perform some special action, there are just too many varying special actions to cover in a video, not knowing what might pop up tomorrow.
So Qimage handles it in a very smooth and rapid manner.
You present your thoughts here, in the appropriate category, someone will have a some help  for you almost instantly.
PLUS, you have the benefit of the author of the program, and the help desk right here too. Mike Chaney, monitors the forum as well as emails to him for help.
Hope this helps.
13  Mike's Software / Qimage / Re: image cropping on: February 02, 2021, 09:29:48 AM
i'm creating a 12" x 16" canvas when i apply the image it appears to get cropped and the full image is not displayed , i have attached a screen shot
 i use windows 10 now
when i was using windows 7 i never had this problem
could you point me in a direction how to sort this issue

Hi Carl.
Seems from the information supplied that we should have an easy fix.
Open Qimage. Click the PRINTS tab upper right. At almost the bottom of that screen, you see a bluish scissors. That is AUTO CROP.
Click it to OFF.
Now your image will be shown in its original aspect ratio set to whatever size you choose.

Now, you might not get 12 x 16 unless your image is a 4:3 ratio. That is why auto crop was on.
**** Alternative method. Put crop scissors back on, and go into PAGE EDITOR.
Top right, click on Crop tab.  In that small window, you will see a red line where Qimage had to crop to make the 12 x 16
Your mouse pointer becomes a hand, and drag that image away from the red line until it is gone.
Adjust to your taste and need.
See screen snaps
.In 113 the left side of flower is missing.
114 you are on Page Editor and see the red line.
116 results!!

Holler back if you need more help

14  Technical Discussions / Printer Media / Re: Large Landscape Prints on: January 24, 2021, 07:15:15 PM
I wish I knew how I was able to print the large landscapes!  I  have two hanging on my walls and printed some for others.
I had one of those i960s. Burned out the head all the time.
Back to the question...... the only thing left would be if you had purchased a rip for the printer, which you likely would remember. They are very expensive.
In the meantime, stay well
15  Technical Discussions / Printer Media / Re: Large Landscape Prints on: January 24, 2021, 01:34:31 PM
Thanks Fred  The printer is a PIXMA PRO-100 and as I remember I could type in any size paper that i chose to under User Defined. Since Qimage never limited paper size it must be a driver problem. (Thanks Mike)  I hope my machine managed to keep the old versions.  If not I'll wind up scouring the CANON Site.

Ron, I have and use my Pro 100 all the time for years. I have it as my primary printer with a driver version  of 286.2.40. That came off my install DVD in 2016. Plus I have verified Printer profiles made for my 100 at that date.
Mike has the same printer. I have never seen a driver change.
