I think Eizo has a menu on the monitor itself where you can set gamma.
I've just checked  my Eizo menus, there's nothing there for gamma. It's probably because it's disabled when the monitor is hardware calibrated to set parameters in the software (ColorNavigator6).
Terry

Thanks to Mike and Terry.

I checked the Eizo menus before starting this subject, and nothing menu wise was working.

Just checked again and the menus are now there, but the color item is greyed out, so I think the ColorNavigator 6 is in charge.

I just find it interesting, A little or no knowledge is a dangerous thing Smiley

Hi Jeff,
I must have misunderstood about the gamma you are using.
Quote
Attached two screen dumps.

Gamma One - as per Eizo test
Gamma Two - as adjusted (note actual screen shows logo blended into background.  Dumped screen still shows faintly the logo.
I'm puzzled as the why you are getting a gamma value that is nowhere near the calibration value. Your second shot shows significant contrast on the logo. So is that really what you can see on the monitor?
I tried a reduced size screen shot but it does not show does not what I see on the screen in the test, too much contrast for some reason.
The actual test does work for me and I get  gamma 2.2 but it takes a little practice to use and it's better to stand back from the monitor to judge it.
Terry

I am also puzzled, all the other tests are OK.

Leaving well alone for now.  I will do more checking later.

Off line rest of day.

Hello Terry

I am using gamma 2.2

I am curious regarding the results of running the Eizo screen gamma test.

Attached two screen dumps.

Gamma One - as per Eizo test
Gamma Two - as adjusted (note actual screen shows logo blended into background.  Dumped screen still shows faintly the logo.

I can just read the text box on these reduced images.

I recently stumbled upon an Eizo monitor test url.

https://www.eizo.be/monitor-test/

Appeared to be some good tests one of which was monitor gamma.

https://www.eizo.com/library/basics/lcd_display_gamma/

Running the gamma test appears to indicate that my monitor is 1.1 Gamma and under the Eizo ColorNavigator 6 calibration prog. there is in fact a
 80cd 6500K 1.01.cntarget.

Question - (prob for Terry) should I be using 1.01 ?

Jeff.

Jeff, Let's be honest. The only reason we sat through that entire video of this woman pilot doing loops and roll overs was because we were waiting for a sustained 180 degree rotation followed by a wardrobe malfunction.
Fred

AH, did you not notice that she was continually adjusting her harness.  Seriously I was impressed with the video quality, it looked very good on my Eizo.

I have posted a question on the Eizo  under Printers.

I will! Do you ever check an image WB out in raw refine by using a know grey area in the image? That at least would be a good idea. I do that sometimes as the grey card shot(s) are not always truly representative.

You can't take it with you.
Terry

That is exactly how I treat the white balance problem, if I think image is off colour balance, ctrl key and select a grey area, if I don't like that result resort to manual, mark one eye ball.

There will be almost nothing left to take with me.  Just enough to engrave stone "I told you I was poorly.  Grumpy"

Very interesting read.

79 quid made me cough  Smiley

My colormunki came with a 80 x 60 card, I wasn't able to make head nor tails of it, so left well alone and camera on auto.

Go on, have another 'go' at me.

Spent some time creating a small flyer with PS Elements, what a faff, multi layers, massive files.

Thought, you idiot, why not use Ultimate floating text.

Job done in a few minutes.

Hi, just created a signature in png format, how do I get this into my image? I see the copyright/signature window but there is no option for png. I see some images in tif in the program data folder.

Thanks

I use the 'cut our' function

A 1000 x 1000 black tiff with the required text.

My sig cut out attached

The cut out folder is in C: Prog Data> ddisofware> Qimage> cutouts

Probably not helpful, but FWIW, over the years I have had that error occur from time  to time after having been in QIMAGE uninterrupted  for a very, very, long time - I mean hours and hours and having done multiple edits, prints and page setups.  Problem was always solved by closing and reopening QIMAGE.

Same here.  Close and restart.

Fred & Terry

RB Camera Club. -  Ruston Bucyrus  -  defunct Lincoln UK engineering firm building excavators.  All that's left is the Camera Club.
see also USA Bucyrus Erie.  &   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruston-Bucyrus.

Progs Tested.

Watermark Software.com
Watermark Pro
Batch Watermark Photos
Star Watermark Ultimate
Total Watermark

Selected as worth using -

Ais Watermark.  but eliminated as apparently like RB defunct even their payment was system was kaput and the trial ver. had a intrusive watermark the could not be clined out.

TSR Watermark 3.6.03  this I found usable without too much help file consultation.
With this prog I have a blank 1000x1000 black.tiff as a template and then bang the watermark on this and save to QI cut out folder.

Most difficult part is giving a suitable cut out file name and keeping track of same.  This is an age related attention deficit syndrome.

You experts could achive same with PS. PS Elem. and what have you, but I find them difficult.  ?syndrome

Hi Jeff,
Looks like you are nearly there. You could do a very simple one in QU using a plain black image with some grey text with a shadow.
See attached, not as smart as your version though! NB> my version cutout needed to be a tif, jpg did not work very well
Terry

I have got there in the end, I am not that good with PS Elements and such, used to be able to use Elements 4 in XP days.

So went the long way round and installed 6 watermarking progs.

After much experimation settled on one and created the required embossed transparent watermark, infact 3 versions - nil transparent, 50% and 75%  -  works well and not to intrusive.

Easy now to  create additions versions, and simple and fast to add to images in QI  save for web. and upload to site host.
