Title: Canon 5D Mark III Post by: atodzia on April 01, 2012, 09:36:43 PM Do you know when you plan to add Canon 5D Mark III compatibility in Qimage?
Thanks, Andy Title: Re: Canon 5D Mark III Post by: Wil on April 02, 2012, 01:56:57 AM If you are using any application (Lightroom, etc) that can make .dng files, you can export to .dng and Qimage can read those files.

Andy, I just looked it up, and if the info was correct, it just came out on the market last week? Usually, the powers that be wait until there are a few new cameras to release at once. Fred Title: Re: Canon 5D Mark III Post by: atodzia on April 03, 2012, 12:33:00 AM Fred,
Yes, it did just come out last week. I was just wondering if Mike knew if it would be weeks or months. Canon released it with a version of DPP that has a bug in it so you can only process Raw files in high speed mode with less adjustment capability. I have read that if you don't use high speed mode the Tiff output files look lousy. For such an expensive camera it's a shame that Canon didn't have all the bugs out of their software. I also am not used to using DPP because it is tedious to use and Qimage does a better job in most cases. I think Mike gets the initial conversion from the same source that most people do; David Coffin. Then Mike works on *that* to make his improvements and adjustments plus the computer language conversion that he needs for Qimage. So really, everyone waits for Mr. Coffin to release the next batch. How close is he to having enough new model Raw formats to make a new release, I certainly don't know. So may I ask, what is the suffix of the new raw formats from the new camera? You can download the free 6.7 RC Adobe dng converter -- convert your Mark III RAW files to dng. Qimage can then read them. Lightroom 4.1 RC supports the Mark III directly already. As far as I know it is the only one that does besides Canon. Wil Title: Re: Canon 5D Mark III Post by: admin on April 03, 2012, 02:55:11 PM My answer is the same as it has been for the last three years. Whenever dcraw supports it, Qimage will support it within about a month. Since dcraw does not yet support the 5D Mark III, your guess is as good as mine.
Mike Title: Re: Canon 5D Mark III Post by: Wil on April 03, 2012, 07:35:49 PM Andy,
I mis-spoke. I have just checked a Canon 5DIII dng file in Qimage and Qimage makes a mess of it -- unusable. If you want to use Qimage for 5DIII files, you'll just have to wait as Mike said. Sorry about that. Wil Title: Re: Canon 5D Mark III Post by: atodzia on April 03, 2012, 10:18:45 PM Thanks for the replies. I'll just have to be patient, like with previous cameras I purchased when they were just released. Which includes being patient for the custom Kirk tripod plate for it as well.
Andy Title: Re: Canon 5D Mark III Post by: atodzia on April 14, 2012, 07:42:37 PM Dave Coffin sent me a test version of Dcraw with 5D mark III support but it is a dcraw.c file and I have no idea what to do with it.
