Hi all,
I have colour management problem on QU14, the colours are wrong when I print using QU14, when I use same configuration on QU13 have perfect print, the prints using Photoshop or Lightroom no problem.
What kind of changes or new adjustment has in QU14 colour management?
Thanks

Hi Alberto,

There's many of us who are printing with QU 2014 and using the same configurations as for v2013 and getting perfect prints.
There must be something different in your case, a driver setting or possibly some corruption.
Do you have saved Printer settings in QU and are you re-calling the right one?
Please double check your driver settings from within QU and your Colour management settings in QU.
If all is ok. there, try clicking Help and Reset printer settings. Then set up again from scratch including the driver settings from within QU. Save the Printer settings.

Hi Alberto,
Terry just dropped me a note that he has to be out of the house today, and asked that I see to getting you set properly.

So let's dig in.
Do you print using a printer profile?
What kind of printer... brand and model?
What kind of paper? Brand and type?

Let's start there.

Hi, Fred and Terry,

I don´t know what’s happens, isn’t printer problem, I do many tests on my 3 HP Z3200, change computers, change papers to Photographic RC, Fine art Matte and Fine art glossy, change profiles, do new profile and results are the same. If I do something wrong I do 3 times and don’t know what is it?

I spent much paper in tests on RAG papers like Hahnemuhle Photo Rag 308 and Canson RAG 310 the problems are much evident., see attach.

All prints on QU14 have the same result with print without colour management, but if I print using QU13 is perfect, something has changed and QU14 don´t manage colours to my printers.

I check again all settings and don´t know where the problem is. I reset printer setting and don’t problem solve, now I can uninstall QU14 and use the old one to do my job.

thanks

Alberto,
The screen snaps you sent; were they scans of prints, or were they from the screen?
Are the images in the same color space when in Photo Shop and when in Qimage?

How are your driver settings?
Do you have the same printer profile selected when in PS and Qimage?
It is easy to mix them in PS. PS only shows the descriptor. Qimage will show both the filename and descriptor.
I have messed up at times, when I had two profiles with same descriptor name, but filenames were different.

See attached screen snaps.
Can you post similar so a second pair of eyes can look?
What kind of image file... PSD, TIF, JPG? Is the colorspace embedded or not?

It is close to your printer driver... are your settings like that?
The last snap 048, is the profile location in Qimage

I Fred,

All settings are the same of your images.

Yes, I try many images and profiles in JPG and tiff all whith embedded profile,  using Photoshop, Lightroom and the same image and profile on Qimage, every time on Qimage U 2014 don’t  manage colour, but using in same way Qimage 2013 is perfect.

I uninstall Qimage14, delete all files in windows and make a new and clean install, the problem happens again, no differences.

Is possible Qimage14 color management work in a different way them 2013 version and some bug in communication? My problem started after doing installation of the first version of 2014.

Thank you for your help

The answer to that is NO!
The engines are the same, small improvements always, new cameras added, but no change in color anywhere.
I really would appreciate yoy showing me some screen shots.
It's nit that I doubt your word, Alberto, but I know, absolutely, that you have some setting or colorspace that is wrong!!!
Sometimes, our eyes look again and again to check, and we miss our own mistakes.

I need to know the color space of the image.
I also need to know what you sent; was it a scan of prints, or a screen grab of two different color patterns off the screen. One looks like sRGB and the other looks like a different space like a prophoto.icm

You really need to work at this, and pass along information.

Hopefully,
Fred

Hi Fred,

Fred,
Thank you for your support.

Is possible I do something wrong, but remember, my print studio has a Hahnemuhle and Canson certificate of excellence in fine art print, My studio are totally calibrated, including wall using Mussel N, Calibrated monitors, illumination with no metamerism, white floor and no windows or colours changing my ambient.  I teach workflow and colour management on photographic graduate university course and I use Qimage a long time. I not a newbie, but is possible I do not se something.

Now I uninstall again QU2014 and reinstall version qu13-123 and work perfect, unsintall qu13 and reintall Qu14 and problema comes again. I think is some kind of bug on new version.

I use many images and diferent papers,  look the second images, my today tests only after lunch.

The main image is a color test chat created by me 3 years ago and I use it for verification testing of color and visual inspection before using the I-One Pro to have an output with perfect color profile. This image at: http://www.aphoto.net.br/aphoto-ref.tif

I really like Qimage and my workflow in the studio printing is based on it, which need information I am available.

Thank you

I am sorry, Alberto.
I cannot even download that TIF. I get a blank screen after I give permission to open.

Maybe Terry can think of something or anyone else...
I am out of ideas...

We have, in the past found many buggy issues in the Z series and B series HP printers, but I have no idea if something popped up.
See if you have the latest driver for that HP.
Do you have a different printer to try?
Mike has an HP driver that puts out yellow prints at 5 x 7. Other sizes are fine.

That's the best I can do...

Alberto,

I'm trying to understand how you are printing in QU.  You mention a couple of times that you are printing with "don't manage colors".  What does that mean?  Are you printing in QU with "Prtr ICC" set to "OFF"?  Or does that mean you are using a printer profile but you have color management turned off in the driver?  These are the key questions we need to know.  To sum up:

(1) Are you using a printer profile in Qimage Ultimate's "Prtr ICC".  If so, what profile (please email it to me at mchaney@ddisoftware.com).
(2) If you are not using a printer profile, let me know the settings you are using in Prtr ICC.
(3) Have you tried 2014.101?  v2014.102 had an update to the color management engine to the latest revision.

Keep in mind that we have a lot of people using the latest version(s) and we've tested it quite extensively ourselves.  I see nothing to indicate that there are any issues with color management in the 2014 versions but the answers to the above should lead us to a solution either way.

Edit: I just took an image and printed it with one of my Epson printer profiles three different ways in three different versions.  I used QU v2013.125, v2014.101, and v2014.110 and I printed three different ways from each of those: with the printer profile (an Epson Luster Paper profile), with no profile (off), and with "let printer/driver manage color".  All three prints in all three versions were identical WRT color.  So like Fred, I suspect something else is going on here.  Maybe when you switch between the versions or install the old one, the old one is picking up some different settings or something?

Thanks,
Mike

Alberto,

Please answer the questions posted directly above your post.  There is no way I can help you if you do not answer the questions as no one else is having any issues at all with color management in QU 2014.  I even did some more testing after I read your posts (again, see above) and can confirm that all is working as it should in QU 2014 no matter which options you choose.  But the answers to my questions will be needed in order to point us in the right direction of where to look next.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,

Good news

qu14-101 Running perfect, no problems, colors very nice.

Confirm color upgrade in 102 version, they don't do a nice job on HP.

Best Regards.

By any chance are you running QU 2014 with the interpolator turned off?  On your main window, bottom right, where it says "prints" and "posters", does yours say "Off"?  In comparing the 2013 --> 2014 changes, I discovered that it won't honor the printer profile if you have interpolation/res set to "Off".  So if you turn interpolation off, there is a bug that also turns off the printer profile.  As long as any other resolution (other than "Off" is selected), all works fine.

Mike,
I reinstall qu14-110 and do more tests. The problem is interpolation bug.
I do all my tests turning off interpolation and setting off posters and prints quality, now setting fusion and 3oodpi in poster and prints and finally color is correct.
