I actually don't use this Forum enough to understand many needed details --even relating to new posts.

However, I thought I had posted this earlier but have not been able to find it so Making another effort to get it posted.

Original Message follows:
I updated to the latest version of QI-U then could not get it to start and continue past one small displayed screen.
I sent Mike an email along with details plus 2 screen copies.
He replied with suggestions and the first I did (as advised) was to start QI while holding the Shift key.  It completed the start up.
Then closed QI and again started just by clicking the quick start icon and with additional close and opens, it opens normal.

However, the latest update did not retain all my QI Preference Settings.  I am having to make preference changes the best that I remember.
The main issue I am posting about is that the Page Layout area is showing three 4 x 6 positions for images to be printed.  I change to Fit to Page or Fit to Paper (using 8 1/2 x 11 inch) and it accepts this or other changes.  However, then when closing QI and restarting, it again displays the three 4 x 6 image areas and the last selected setting (Fit to Page) did not "stick".

I thought this may possibly be related to a corrupt Print Driver setting so I deleted the Printer and then allowed it to load the driver (again) for that printer -- but did not help.

Any assistance will be appreciated.

Vern,
That holding the Shift Key trick is tantamount to reset to default.
Generally used when a corrupt file or mismatched setting is suspected.

The default setting for print size is 4 x 6... so what you are getting is correct.

The FIX:

Open the Print properties box (zebra button below the main preview screen.)
See cursor arrow in screen snap 004

In that print property box, set your selection for the default size; crop off or on; borders;page color....Image lock, on/off
See screen snap 005
Now click the SAVE ICON and there are your new default settings... snap 006
The yellow folder icon is a quick launch clear my mess and reset my new defaults that I saved.

Hope this helps.

Fred, many thanks for the help -- it worked perfectly.  I actually didn't know what holding the shift key was for -- all I knew was that it worked to allow QI-U to start up normal.  I thought surely there must be some a way to make the desired setting "stick" but I thought QI-U (when next opened), that it opened with same "previous" settings and not again loading the Default settings.

It is somewhat ridiculous that I have used Qimage for over 10 years and there continues to be details that I have never used and don't know about.  Unfortunately, that will probably be the same after another 10 year of usage.

Thanks again,
Vernon....
