The build number, whatever.... you can find
Most important,  How much RAM?

No mystery... user ignorance.. Knowledge from you solved the mystery... It's working great Thanks... I will be sure to contact you and others if more help is needed. Actually I do have a question, I have some Red River paper that measures 8 1/2 X 11 I don't see those numbers in the drop down sized. Do I manually type in that size. Can you explain the proper way to do this?

Hi Gary
8.5 x 11 is the most common size paper and you should find it in the list near the top, called LETTER SIZE
I do need to know how much RAM is in  your computer.
Thanks,
Fr

Good morning,
1) Who is that gorgeous child?
2) Your placement setting is wrong. See screen snaps. Set to Optimal Spaced
3) Turn off Borderless unless you really mean it. It will degrade the edges of the print.
4) After you have your shot on the page, you will be looking at 10.0 x 6.66.
5) If you want to fill out the 8 x 10 for an 8 x 10 print, click the blue scissor for auto crop. See snaps

6) If you want the page filled evenly, select Fit to Page as a size print instead of 8 x 10

You are doing fine....

Hi,
I've been following this thread and talking to Fred about it. So to help out (he's getting on you know  Grin), re:-

That is the dialogue for special sizes, = "Custom" stick to the normal method of selecting a size by clicking the zebra button on a thumb or below the preview.
See screen shot.
(no apologies for metric sizing, it's the 21st century here in the UK  Roll Eyes)
Below the list of sizes you see, fit to page and other options.

One more thing I forgot to mention. Whatever is set using the zebra button for crop on, shows in the custom settings too.

Gary,
This is getting complicated, although enlightning
Your screen snaps are showing me that you have changed the paper size to 8.5 x 11 successfully, but your print size should have been clicked to 8 x 10. Instead 9.685 x 7 it is still 7.731, the printable area of 8 x 10 paper.

1) You are taking the long road around to get to Print to Page or 8 x 10.  Use the Print property drop down sizes unless you need a weird custom size.
2) According to what I read from a Canon rep. you need to uninstall the driver and reinstall it.  The WS designation is a Microsoft induced substitute driver.

OK I add my photo to the live view box by clicking on the 4 bar symbol on the thumbnail. A box pops up with different sizes. If I want to print a 8 1/2 x 11 photo there are no options for that size. It goes as far as 8 x 10. What should I click? This is where I think I'm making my mistake.

Slow down... you have to get the hang of the basics.
All printers need "housekeeping room" That is, they offer a printable area of a specific size based on the sheet of paper you are using.
So if you are using 8.5 x 11 paper, the printable area above the Live View will say (under normal circumstances), 10.685 x 8.0.; not 8.5 x 11.

That is the largest print you can make on 8.5 x 11, unless you turn on borderless. Then it will make 8.5 x 11 prints.
Just let Qimage work for you... click the zebra button as we call it, and select your 8 x 10 print.
Now think logically. Does the picture I see (10.0 x 6.66) have enough space on the 10 inch ends for some cropping to fill out the 6.66 to 8.0 without cutting off aunt Suzie on the left, or Uncle Bob on the right?
If so, in that same box (zebra button) click the crop scissor on. You now have 8 x 10.
But you like the look of a fuller page, so again, zebra Button, and select Fit to Page.
Placement set to Optimum Spaced of course.

As for the list of sizes, you can add, change, or delete as many sizes as you wish
