I run xp, and had to turn off my third party auto update driver facility, and revert to an early version of my graphic card driver a few months ago due to a siimilar problem. I do not think it is specifically related to qimage.
I too still run XP but found that updating the NVidea driver has solved the occasional very minor display problem there's been with Qimage (Studio Edition) in the past. I've never had a BCOD though! I don't think I've ever had the option of auto-update of my NVidea driver, it's always done manually.
