I was trying to correct a misspelled file name in the usual file view. I right clicked the file name, the title pane went blue as expected but immediately reverted to normal before I could alter it. It's no problem, I can use WE to do it. Have I found a bug?

I have no idea what you mean by the usual view.

If I want to change a filename (image filename I presume) I simply right click on a thumbnail and select RENAME.

Where are you working?

Fred

PS I think I can repeat what you were doing.
I "think" that is shut off intentionally. It is likely that there are so many places where the "path" is required (Thumbs, Cache, Jobs, Logs, etc etc, that changing a FOLDER name would be very tangled in Qimage...
Those are FOLDERS that I see. You too?
I am going to experiment.
You gave me a challenge.

OK, just for fun, I renamed a folder in Explorer, and QU no longer finds the folder that was, before I renamed it, and pops a message to that effect.
I can use the new folder with the new name by Opening Folders and locating teh renamed folder.
Qimage will now treat it as a new folder and create new Thunbnails and New Cache files.

I'll ask Mike later.
Was a good question!!

The view when I open QU

I used "File name" instead of "Folder name" in my posting, ie I wanted to change a Folder name. (I know Windows stopped calling them file ages ago but old dogs etc)

You have to press F5 to update QU, then it works.

OK, Summary: Folder rename with right click doesn't work in QU

Right!
I checked with Mike, and he said he remembers turning off the rename "Directory" (for really old dogs) feature.
Yes, F5 will refresh the screen in any program, but I was referring to renaming a folder/directory in Explorer.
When QU goes to look for the folder that it was expecting, it cannot find it so it advises you to that effect and goes to the default folder; C:\User\Fred\ My Pictures....

Then you can open the Folders Bar in QU, and select the 'newly named folder', and QU will open the images creating the thumbnails using the new name.
Of course, all this is done in eh background.

I think we have it all covered.

I still have books on my shelf that say DOS 4 and DOS 6.0 and 6.2  and I just threw out some 5.25 inch floppies.
Now that's an old dog.!

You can re-name a folder in the QU folder tree but the right click "Rename" does not work.
Do it like this:
click to select, wait a second and click again to "open" the box to re-name, see first screen shot.
You can then place the cursor in the box and type, see second screen shot.
Thumbs and cache (for raw) will then re-build for the new folder name so it's then a good idea to use Utilities and delete Orphaned thumbs & cache.

Thanks Terry. Works fine, I would never have thought of trying that.
