He slips these in on us...
This is a really big feature for me.
I love adding floating text CAPTIONS (usually fun stuff) to images.
I had to set up my text, and then make a new image using Print to File to lock the text in order to print it.
Now I can place my caption and it will print!!
As a bonus, Mike has added a mouse click to bring up any "tag" you might have placed on a folder or an image...

This is really neat for me...

I have been using the "add floating text" for many years to add my name copyright symbol and short text description to my prints. What changes are new?

Previous to this release, Floating text could only be printed by making Print to File image and printing that new file.
No longer necessary to make that extra Print to file.

Fred

I have been using the following procedure.
1. Place file in the print queue.
2. Right mouse on the image and select "edit page"
3. Right click on the image in the popup window and select "add floating text"
4. Floating text properties box will popup. Complete info and click ok. Text will appear on the image. It can be relocated by holding the blue button and move to desired location.
5. Click on the done button and the text will be placed on the image in the queue.
6. Print.
Woks fine for me.

Dennis,
I apologize.
I was thinking of a different routine..
You are 100% correct.
This version can pull the labels and place them into Floating text...

Hey, you got to forgive this old guy.
My R 1800 bit the dust, and I just got (late yesterday) my replacement Epson R 2000

A beauty!
My mind was on the big box

Hate to say this - but how do I access this new feature if not through the page editor?  It isn't obvious (as usual for me - it will be when Fred hits me over the head with it.)

Nah... that's what I was doing this afternoon... tutoring QU

Same old way you always accessed the Floating text, but Mike added a couple of extras... One is to float the text from the Tag of the folder, and the other was to float the text from the Image tag.
Of course you had to have added these tags (to the folder and / or image at an earlier time.

See snap..
Red arrow points to the user tagged PHOTO
Click that, and whatever you placed in the image tag, will appear.
This says Jerry in that tag.

As always - thanks Fred.  But guess what?  It doesn't work on my rickety old xp machine.  I mean the text preview shows the tag just the way your snap shows Jerry.  I can put other text in there and it shows on the page screen, but $u or $U. Nothing.  (and yest the images and folders do have labels)  Be interested to see if others have this issue.  Clearly, you do not.

YET ONCE AGAIN - It was me - see John's post below.  I was not clicking the link to box!  How could QU pick up a label if it isn't linked to a print! If anyone else has this problem, it is NOT a problem. Just see the examples in the posts.

I've got it all to work but it took a while before I spotted the Link to box on the left, that needs to be checked.

The labelling of folders is very clunky but I do it as follows.
a) Label one photo with a silly label eg xyz
b) Search for xyz
c)Surprise! the folder is found in the search
d)Left Click on the right hand bar of the folder title ie Desc(ription)
e)Click again and you can type in your info
f)Tap Enter to finalise.

There must be an easier way, mustn't there?

Hi John,
You can label the folders when you use Flash Card Copy Move to get the images from your card.
You can label them when you have the thumbs on screen.. there's a text box to conveniently add your folder label
See snaps...
There are more, but those are to get you in the game.
The last snap is the way you are doing it... and that's fine too, but generally reserved to fine tuning the labels.
Have fun.
