v2020.100      Sep 16, 2019

Priority: Med

2020.100 includes:

  • Job management: If images in a job were moved since the job was saved, a new search tool will appear (when the job is opened) to assist in finding the new location of missing images.
  • Job log search: Ability to select a thumbnail or print and show/open jobs where that image (or any from the same folder) printed previously.
  • HEIC images: Added support for the Apple HEIC image format.
  • Fixes and optimizations: Minor bug fixes and stability enhancements are the result of extensive testing of the 2020 edition for compatibility with the latest Windows 10 releases.

Let me tell you... Mike is very understated announcing the release of Qimage Ultimate 2020.100
I was able to spend some intense time playing with this new version and I must say, I would be having a parade and a marching band.
It is magical. I open a job and the it opens but no images, QU will  find the images and place them in the job on screen.

If I open an AUTO SAVED job and the little sample viewer box is blank (meaning it cant find the image you printed, likely because it was moved), QU 2020 will find it and open the job with the images.

Mike even made a new dashing Opening Logo for us.

If he doesn't make a video tonight, I will make one in the morning.

Oh boy.  I can not wait to get my hands on this and the timing couldn't be better.  I am redoing/updating a project from about 8 years ago, but some pages from only a couple of years ago. Over half of the jobs I open have at least one missing image. I have no idea why I moved them; they are all still out there but it can take a while to find them.  It's almost as if Mike realizes what dunce heads some of us are!

Have to upgrade yet but it sounds wonderful.  I try to keep my files at the same spot over time, the more the customer files, but sometimes you have to reorganize them for good reasons. And I usually know where to find the files for a reprint but this should make it easier. Thank you Mike.

Met vriendelijke groet, Ernst

Please click the FULL SCREEN icon which will make HD as well as clean the background.
Thanks for your patience.

Very helpful Video Fred  Cool However ....
One for Mike probably ...
I've checked out the new Job Recall feature where the images are no longer in their original location, it works well. I probably won't use it a great deal but it make life easier as I do move the previous year's images to different hard drives for archiving.
I wondered how it would work if the job had images archived on removable media like a DVD. I have a significant number of images stored on DVD's, most of which have been included in the QU Database.
If I do a normal database search using part of a folder name (mine have the date and subject) and the use DVD drive letter as the folder, a result soon appears giving me the CD name etc.
As a test I created a simple print to file job from an old image in a folder on a DVD.
If I recalled the job with the DVD in the drive, it was found ok. If the DVD was not in the drive, it could not be found. Not good as I wouldn't normally know which DVD to load.
The top level folder (and sub folders?) appear to be recorded in the database.
Is it possible that a the search from job data could include information so that the correct DVD could be located?
Maybe I'm not understanding something?

I guess it depends on how you entered the DVD into the data base.
Mine shws the DVD number and the  folder name and the date it was entered.
I have a spindle full of stored images on DVD.

Terry, you can do that: that's why the normal search box appears behind the file search.  The default is to search attached drives and selected locations but if it's on a DVD, you only need to click "Close" on the file search window and the normal search window that is behind it appears (with the file name already in the search terms).  You can click to search the database (folders) from there.  It even shows the "not found" location at the top of the window (in the window title) so, if you wanted to search for a folder name instead, you can see what to search up top and decide what terms to use from that.  Then you can insert the DVD and click the appropriate line item.  After inserting the DVD, you could even put the file name back in the search and click the file search button again to confirm it found it on the DVD before proceeding.

Regards,
Mike
