My installation shows the working Qimage folder to be in C:\ProgramData\ddisoftware\qimage. The Cutout folder is \Cutouts below that. This is for Vista or W7 XP is C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\ddisoftware\Qimage\Cutouts Maybe that's part of the problem, depends on which OS is being used and Qimage can't find the folder. In my previous post, I failed to mention that I had no problem modifying a cutout and then being able to view & apply it until after I had upgraded to Studio edition...which, if I recall, was after I had set up a Guest account on my computer.
However, I was not getting any error messages. I had before the upgrade set up a shortcut to the Cutouts folder--but that folder was no longer THE Cutouts folder being used by Qimage. See my previous post, above. Not sure why it worked out like that--which is why I hope I'm not misdirecting anyone with this post.
Using XP Home, SP3, and Qimage Studio Edition.

Back to the original subject: additional cutouts for Qimage.
Run a google search for photo (frames, masks) and you'll find plenty of freebies. Not all will work with Qimage, but many will.

Something else strange is happening. It seems that only the cutouts supplied with Qimage are causing problems. If I remove them from the folder and put in Terry's pack, they all work fine. As soon as I copy one of the original cutouts back into the folder I get the error message. I uninstalled the program, and then went into the Registry and removed ALL keys with the word "qimage" in them. Of course, one of them was the unlock code, so when I reinstalled (using the latest version, q10-202.exe) I had to reenter my unlock code. But then the program asked me if I wanted to take the 10 minute tour, to which I clicked "No", and Qimage started, but immediately shut down. Each time I try to start it, it starts to load, and then crashes back to desktop. Fortunately, I was able to use System Restore to get back to a working version, and when I started looking at the folders, I see several instances of ddisoftware (ddisoftware(2), ddisoftware (2)(2)) and several versions of the cutouts folder (cutouts, cutouts(2)). I'm not sure where these are coming from unless it's from not uninstalling the current version before installing the newer versions. Should the older version be uninstalled before installing a newer version?

Not sure what is happening here. Sounds almost like one of the original cutouts got corrupted. Maybe this will help: if you want to find the "official" folder that Qimage is using, click "Utilities", "Explore Qimage Application Data". It's the "Cutouts" folder that shows up in that explorer window that is the one Qimage is using.

Even stranger: If I copy the supplied cutouts into a separate sub-folder within the "cutouts" folder, I can navigate to them in the previewer and they load and work fine. As soon as even one is copied back to the "Cutouts" folder I get the error message.

Must have been corrupted cutouts somehow. I used Irfanview to do a batch rename, saved them as TIFF and now they work just fine. Thanks for the tip Mike.
