Thank you for the quick replies.
The sorting button did the trick. I wasn't even aware of that button. Embarrassed
I apologize. I knew the problem was in auto sorting, but forgot about that ON/OFF button. Getting Old. Fred

Am I missing some hidden feature? Is there a way to manually change the order of images in a job? I just experimented and find that with certain placement selections, Qimage might be trying to save you paper usage by replacing item fitting to a page. There us probably a better way, but I added images and re saved the Job immediately Mike will probably have a better answer. Fred

Technical Discussions / Printer Media / Re: Bottle ink printer

One more question - maybe you could do a test for me. I print a lot of photo albums. If you have a couple of spare prints, could you lay them face to face and put them under a book for a few days? Would like to know if there is any problem with the pages sticking together. I know this was a problem with some dye inks 20 years ago. They have resolved any major issues related to fading, so maybe this wont be an issue either. Since I am contemplating that Epson bottle ink printer as my Epson stylus 3000 is threatening to go to that permanent nozzle clog in the sky. Mel, I now own 3 printers. I gave away the 17.00 per 13ml cartridge with auto cleaning cycles; my Canon Pro 100. A great printer but putting me in the poor house. I got the G620 Canon first with bottled ink and worked it to death. Finally, got an Epson 8550 after Mike put it through its paces. The need for the Epson was not due to it making better prints than the Canon, but because the Canon G620 had a max paper size of 8.5 x 11. We needed a 13 inch carriage. Hence Epson 8550. The Epson has higher output rez, but it takes a Mike to see it. On your sticking question, I am old and do not take anymore safaris. So I go through my thousands of images and print; print; print. I stack them on each other until I empty a paper box. Then I put them in the box and give them away to retirement homes, churches, and Dr offices. Not a problem anywhere. I have figured out that not needing to spend 90 dollars a month on cartridge ink,the savings will pay for my 8550 Mel, I too, have printed with every printer you can imagine. I even had a 3 color ribbon printer years ago. Mel, you know me a long time. I wouldn't steer you wrong. Get an Epson 8550, and don't look back. It even has a tray for plain paper which, It prints receipts or test prints, or whatever just by you selecting PLAIN PAPER in Qimage. Stay well, Fred

Thanks for that. Do I need any printer-specific information from the printer?
Does the printer need to do anything else on his end, or just select the file and Print? You should ask the store or business that will print for you what color space he prefers. (profile) He might say RGB or Adobe RGB or something else. If you look at the screen snap, you see where you can accommodate his request in the COLOR SPACE line. There is also a red "V" for video which might help located on that same screen. It is a tad old in so far as the buttons are different, but the information is solid. I access Print to file with a Right Click on the Properties button on the right side of the printer and settings tab. Mike will be later to fill in what I might have missed. Fred

Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: v2023.111 issues/comments
|
on: March 08, 2023, 09:45:42 AM

Hey, I found a little bonus feature that Mike slipped into 2023.111 latest version. See, this is what I normally do with a folder of images. I place my cursor on thumbnail 1, and then hit the spacebar. Then I roll my mouse wheel one click at a time viewing each image in a pretty large size on my screen. I see one that looks pretty good, so I right click and click select. This highlights that thumb as well as placing a dot in the lower right corner of the screen image. When I returned to the normal screen and looked at the selected thumbs, I found that the ones that were nice were done already. Now Mike added a little "touch" to that dot in the lowerright corner. It now has the same color as the filename. In other words, if you used Image Editor, the dot will be red. If you used Raw Refine, the dot will be blue. If you used both, the dot will be purple. Pretty neat! Fred

Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Print Sizes
|
on: March 03, 2023, 08:27:02 AM

I have several different custom print sizes that I have added over the years. Some are for one printer, while others are for a dye-sub printer for which there are many different sized prints for different products, etc. Right now I have 58 print sizes and need to add several more. Is there any way to divide print sizes into separate files in order to make them more manageable? Say one for each printer?
Yes, Bill. I too have many printer setups that include paper type, printer model and print sizes. Not only printers and sizes, but I have profiles and setups for Canon paper on my Epson 8550 and Epson paper on my Canon G620. Experiment with the different sorting systems. Sort by printer/media/ etc. Hope this helps. Fred

View Profile Email Personal Message (Offline) Recall printersettings « on: Today at 06:56:43 AM » Reply with quoteQuote Modify messageModify Remove messageRemove Split TopicSplit Topic Hi, I've in the upper part of 'printer/media' chosen my default printer (Epson SC-P900). When I click on the icon to recall saved profiles, by default the search option is 'set-ups for all printers'. I get a long list. When trying to filter the results, by choosing 'current printer', I get an 'empty' list.
by scrolling manually, I'm able to find the profile I want. What are I doing wrong?
With regards, Martin
Martin you missed two items. 1) You should use the fine tuned box shown inthe snap to narrow your selection. 2) Simply set up a printer setup recall as shown. Click on the yellow envelope in the Printers and Settings Tab. Your big box opens. NOW you can see a smaller selection arrow at the bottom :SETUP for PRINTERS. Open that and make your selections.. These selections are based on the assumption that you have created printer setups. SUCH AS" I have an 8 x 10 print set on 8.5 x 11 paper; Epson Ultra Glossy and the proper profile. PLUS any other accoutrements such as borders, notations, etc. You save these using the Save Setup button to the right of that yellow folder icon at the right side of your screen. See in snap 097 what I have saved for my Epson 8550. I am a dedicated setup person so I can choose the paper, size, print and profile setup already set for me. Hope this helps Fred

Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Original Size vs. Fit to Page vs. Fit to Paper vs________?
|
on: February 21, 2023, 10:13:52 PM
|
For example, I want to retain the entire pixel size of a 3:2 landscape image and fit it onto the 8.5x11 paper, with no enlargement, i.e., clipping of the long edge. I can't find that setting(s). Roll Eyes
Please help. Go slow. 3:2 aspect ratio can only fit an uncropped print, regardless what size paper. In other words, only a multiple of 3:2 will fill your page without cropping So simply turn off auto crop and print Your uncropped 3:2 image will prnt unspoiled. You cannot fill a page with a different aspect ratio without distortion If you click fit to page, auto cropping comes on because thatis the only way. fred

Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Resolution file - given PPI
|
on: February 21, 2023, 12:19:46 PM
|
So if a given file has a given resolution in DPI, Qimage calculates the factor needed to get the desired resolution in PPI. " Using: "Printer and Settings" -> "Processing" -> setting: Print Res: XXX
Easy arithmetic. If your image is 3000 pixels by 3000 pixels, Qimge sees that you want a 10 x 10 print.PPI will be 300 ppi Wait for Mike. Another 10 minutes

Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Resolution file - given PPI
|

Hi, When I transfer a file with a given resolution, in PPI, to Qimage, will in 'tab' Printers and Settings, part -> 'Processing', setting a 'Print Res', Qimage Ultimate alter the data to a (chosen)default value before sending it to the printer?
Let's start over slowly. PPI depends on the print size and the image resolution applied to the print size. (5x7 will have a greater ppi than 8 x 10) Now Qimage takes that data and interpolates it at the highest quality possible to the printer's desired input. (Epson = 720 ppi and Canon 600. That file is sent to your printer using the profile and print size requested. I will pause here as I am not sure if I understood your question. Fred

Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: How to split an image over multiple pages
|
on: February 20, 2023, 07:44:00 AM

I have seen a page where there was a challenge to do this, but to me no help, I have no clue where to start! Nothing I have done seems to work at all. Any chance there is actually a video that shows the steps. I am trying to print a map, on A3 paper but the image is huge and in order to read the wording it needs to be split into four sections then printed on A3. I have tried dividing it in another image program but get issues with different cropping not allowing the pages to fit together as one. Any help appreciated. Jackie.[/quote Hi Jackie, Mike made a great video for multi pane printing Just go to the ddisoftware web page http://www.ddisoftware.com/qimage/ and select VIDEOS. See attached screen snap. Click on multipanel Printing and you are all set. If you still need a little extra help, Mike is always here to help you. Fred

That's exactly what it is. Thank you sir! Now I know how to do wrap borders. Grin
You're welcome sir, but I would like to reiterate, that this is a nice place. It has helpful people who don't mind if a topic has been discussed before. There are always new Qimage owners who might need some help getting over a bump in the road. So feel comfortable and discuss anything here. Fred

Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Epson SC-P900 -> 'Optimize enlargement'
|
on: February 14, 2023, 12:00:52 PM

Hi, By default, this option is set to "on" in the printerdriver. According to the help function; 'Select this check box to optimize an enlargement to achieve long poster or panoramic printing without using a particular application. Clear this check box if text or graphics are distorted; however, output length may be limited depending on the application'. Using Qimage Ultimate, should I disable this option in the printer driver? Hello Martin. The reason that the box is checked and which will leave you vulnerable to mis sized prints is due to you shutting of the printer A I in Qimage. Mike has designed A I to remove the possibility of the user messing up printer settings. Simply click on the gear wheel next to the Properties button and put the checks back into the boxes at the bottom. Or click defaults, Fred
