Hi again Jeff, I've just looked at this Coollage again, it's very basic and only does up to 7 images. However, there's a "Version PRO" for £4.19. See screen shot below. You will need a MS login for this. THis version seems more like the old MS Autocollage, possibly better.

Hi Jeff, Good to hear from you - looking for lock-down things to do it seems . MS Autocollage is not supposed to work for W10 but it does There is a free up t date version here called Coolage!: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/p/coollage/9wzdncrcs1h5?activetab=pivot:overviewtabI've had a very quick play, it possibly has more features that the old version but I've only just installed it. Click "GET" on the web page, It should then automatically download and install. It's free so not need to go via checkout. I have an MS account so not sure if that's essential. I'll send you a private message which may help with the old version. Terry

Good to see the Group has woken up. We are all confined to barracks this side of the pond. I managed to take a few garden photos this week the first for many months. Hi Jeff, Good to hear from you. I've not done much photography lately either. I am managing to get out for a walks, following the government guide lines of course. My wife comes if it's a short one. Yesterday I did a 15mile bike ride on quiet lanes. My first decent ride for months; my son said the time I took was not bad for a 77 year old! Some recent photos of a local solo woodland walk are here. https://www.flickr.com/photos/terry-m_flickrphotos/albums/72157713821941162Nothing very special, I traveled light with just a 60mm macro lens fitted. Time for Fred to butt in now Terry

OK. Back to square one! I've now looked at your friend's web site and seen what you mean. The best way to this in QU is to create a Cutout. See the attached image I made using a QU cutout in the image editor. See second screen shot of QU editor where this is done I made the cutout image in a graphics program, Serif PagePlus but other programs could do this too. If you go to the Help- Legacy Help Documentation - Index - Qimage Functions, you'll see Cutouts listed there and how to make them and load into QU. Terry PS. You can see samples of my collection of QU Cutouts and Frames here. Some were "experimental"! https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Z3zHFUC_8p7TKIW7TH9sTaP3w-Fvl1EdUse the grid view and right click on an image to select Preview.

I placed two copies of an image and set one to Perceptual and the other Rel Colorimetric and then used the softproof and gamut box. What surprises me a little is that dark areas, as well as bright colours show as out of gamut. Terry

Hi Liz, For me the underlying question becomes, how would I know if any colors in my image were out of gamut? I don't know where the gamut starts and ends! You wouldn't normally worry about it because Color Management takes care of it. Terry

Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Printing off a Calendar on double-sided paper

Bill. I assume that the correct procedure is as follows:-
>File>Save>Click on J and enter a name for example '2020 Calendar'
To recall
>file>Recall>enter the job name and bingo it should be there!
Am I on the right track? Yes. On the same topic, what if I forget the name of the job, how can I find it? Use a more memorable name starting with "calendar" maybe. Search by date using the date column or by image file, name by clicking the binoculars icon top right of the Window. Terry

Bill Rather than match and feed the sheets individually for printing, is there any way that I can instruct Qimage to print in a particular sequence. Place the images in the Queue in the order you want them printed. First the Jan to June set then the July to Dec set with the paper loaded to print on the other side. I assume you can load multiple sheets into your printer. Not Fred but Terry

why do you set D65 and not D50 for print jobs? I assume you are referring to the screen shot of my monitor calibration result in post#1 above where the white point is set to 6500K. It's not directly related to printing as it's the monitor setting. I've always understood that for photography, 6500K is the usual setting. For other tasks such as graphic design, lower values may be used. Lower values (5500K or 5000K) do give a "warmer" look to the screen but our eyes get used to this so the warm look becomes normal. I don't think it affects the appearance of the print as that is controlled by the print profile and I get very good matching monitor to print. see http://ddisoftware.com/tech/printer-media/the-wonders-of-colour-management-my-recent-experience/Maybe someone with a better technical knowledge (eg. Mike) can comment. Terry

Hi Jeff, good to hear from you. At 178 quid I will have to consider up grading if and when I get back to active photography.
Well, I hope you become active again very soon, maybe when it's a bit warmer. I had some Amazon vouchers given to me so the net cost was a little less. There is a cheaper instrument "Xrite i1 Display" (no "Pro") but that is not compatible with the Eizo software for hardware calibration. I don't know what the differences are, functionality seems to be the same. Maybe the sensor is a better quality. Terry

Technical Discussions / Printer Media / The Wonders of Colour Management - my recent experience

This seems the most relevant section to post this. I've been using colour managed printing for 16 years since I bought my first monitor calibration device and I started using printer profiles. It was a Gretagmacbeth (now Xrite) Eye-One Display device. I now have an Eizo hardware calibration monitor (data stored on the monitor not via the graphics card) and recently thought my old Eye-One Display was not now giving me the best performance for the monitor matching a print, particularly with some colours. I've always been proud of the fact that my monitor view closely matched prints without the need for test prints and tweaking, unlike some of my photo club colleagues! I have just retired my old calibration device and replaced it with an Xrite i1 Display Pro. There is a cheaper version but that was not compatible with the Eizo calibration software. Today, after calibrating my monitor, I compared 10, A3 and half A3+ prints, on various papers, I have made recently for club competitions. I used an Ott-Lite alongside my monitor to illuminate each print. I compared colours, shadow areas and highlights and I'm very pleased to say the monitor matched the prints very well, in fact perfectly in my view QU makes setting up Colour Management very easy as well being able to save all the set-up variations for paper, printer etc. etc. So, I hope this little post will encourage you to fully embrace CM if you not done so already. Terry
