Technical Discussions / Printers / Re: Epson R2000 Issue

Hi, I have an R2000 printer too. Re. Ran a nozzle check tonight (several actually) and as you suspected Magenta was spotty. Several other colors were too. They seem to get better in one session and then back to missing some in the next nozzle check. You do not say if you did a 'Head Clean' at all using the driver Utility - that is essential. After a nozzle check you are asked if you want to a clean session. Do it but it may take more that one go at it. As you continue to do extra cleaning operations, they become more intense automatically. I did 2 sequentially yesterday after replacing 3 cartridges. Terry

Hi Andrew, Out of curiosity I downloaded your image and got the same problem. I then opened it in Irfanview, no problem, and saved it to overwrite the original image. It the opened correctly in QU. There must be some problem with the data in the image file. Mike will know the detail. Terry

Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Prints are a bit too dark.
|

Hi Jana, The usual reason for prints being too dark compared to your monitor is that the monitor is too bright. I had a similar problem a little while ago when I replaced my monitor with an Eizo LED model. With colour managed printing you need to get the monitor to match your prints, not the other way round. This means setting the monitor brightness to match a print. I found with my new monitor, when calibrating it I had to set the brightness level in the calibration software quite low. Previously I'd used 120cd/m2 with my non-LED monitor, now I use 80cd/m2. I get perfectly matching screen view and prints (viewed with an Ott Lite). Terry

But, I am thinking that when I last tried this, there were many, many pictures on the page, not just the two Just tried it with 4 6x4ins (150x100mm) on an A4 page. No problems whatsoever. Terry

Fred & ckaza, You can use CTRL A after selecting the image and see if that works for you. I think that is the wrong short cut - it's CTRL Up arrow. All works OK here, bring to top etc. version 2021.106 Terry

Technical Discussions / Camera Accessories / Macro Ring Flash With A Stroboscopic Mode
|
on: July 09, 2021, 03:51:33 PM
|
I was recently given (birthday pressy) a Kenro Macro Ring Flash which has a Stroboscopic Mode. It's called 'Multi Mode'. Can anyone tell me what the advantages are of using this mode for macro and close-up photography. I've seen a YouTube video which demonstrates using it in a portrait studio situation portrait but nothing for macro work. Terry

I use daylight LED bulbs in my office and find that they are good enough to remove any noticeable color casts. Hi Mike, that seems a good idea and simple to do. I had LED bulbs in my house for some time but most are warm white (<3000K), I'd not seen any of 5000K previously but they are now readily available here. I'll buy one for my 'office' where all the photographic work takes place to check it out. Terry
