John - I just switched to a Mac and am running Windows under VMware Fusion so I could keep QImage for printing.
I ran into the same problem as you and never got an answer from a couple of forum posts (not here though). Then I realized I really don't have a problem.
My monitor is profiled and I edit in Lightroom. I save to a jpg or tiff or psd file for printing in QImage.
After a bit of testing I realized my prints were matching my Lightroom screen, so now I just open QImage, choose the saved edited file, choose the appropriate paper profile and go.
I think because I am using the same monitor for both OS's there is no issue as long as I make my monitor profile the default profile.
This may or may not make sense to you - maybe I just got lucky. :-)

I think your interpretation is correct.
I have been running QI using Virtualbox (Win 7 64bit guest) on my Macbook Pro for a few years. QI states sRGB for the screen profile and the images look fine. I haven't detected any difference between the same images displayed on the colour calibrated host and the guest.
Besides, I use QI U for composing and printing and therefore if the displayed QI images were "off" it actually doesn't matter. All editing is done with the custom calibrated host.

PS Mike, may I suggest you also list Virtualbox as a virtual machine option.
