I remember one you wizards mentioning that there might be a move towards greater control over the initial RAW conversion and I hoped this was my rescue.
I don't think auto black levels is quite what you think it is.
was disappointed to have to reduce the RAW fill on almost every shot.
For the benefit of other readers,
please note, I don't believe this is a QU problem.Tony kindly sent me one of his images where he'd reduced the auto fill level of 9 down to -10.
I found that QU rendered the raw very well despite there being a spot light facing the camera. I clicked on one rectangle over the spot light area to give a blue outline which improved it even more. The histogram looked fine, good shadow detail and just a blip at the top end caused by that spot light.
I found that taking the fill down to -10 made the image badly under exposed
I suspect Tony's monitor is too bright. :-\
