46  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Another question, this one re shortcuts on: January 22, 2017, 01:49:21 AM
Hi again--

I am wondering if there is a way to create shortcuts for certain options, specifically Print Placement. That menu item is buried in several sub-menus (Edit > Preferences > and two more sub menus), and I would love to be able to access it more directly, since I use it a lot. I couldn't find a way to do that. Is there one?

Thanks.

47  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Converting a .job to a .jpg or .tiff on: January 22, 2017, 01:37:03 AM
Hi--

I created a triptych of images for a poster and a friend asked if I could send her a digital version. She doesn't have Qimage, so I wonder if there is a way to convert a .job (which seems to have several associated files?) into a single .jpg or .tiff file (without my having to write complicated code to make it happen)?

I had the idea that Print to File might do this, but I don't even know where to find whatever file gets created using that command. Where is it?

Thanks for any help.

Terry, you get the prize! Thanks! Once the cyan nozzle was cleared the colors in the printed image were fine. I am relieved and pleased.

Thanks Terry. Actually I had that thought after I posted, and found that the cyan was clogged, so I will reprint again after getting a good nozzle check print out.

I had thought it was under 256 for each attachment, and I was well under that, so thanks for clarifying !

51  Technical Discussions / Printers / Qimage Ultimate and Epson R2000 color problem on: May 14, 2013, 02:48:19 AM
Hi--

I am going nuts trying to figure something out. I took a bunch of photos in Mexico in 2004 and wanted to print them out with my new Epson R2000, set up per Fred's instructions. I chose four images, all taken with the same camera.  Three of the images came out fine, but in the fourth the colors are totally off. I even went back to the original and tried that, thinking maybe in the editing process the image's ICC profile was wrong so it conflicted with something within Qimage (if that even makes sense), to no avail.

All ink cartridges are full.

I am attaching the photo, so you can see the proper colors (it's the one called P5082267 ed may2013), and then a photo of the print-out I got from my printer (photo.jpg), which is all pink and orange. Please ignore the image quality--this is just to show the colors. By the way, I had previously printed this image with my old Epson R800 without any difficulty.

Any thoughts about this mystery?

By the way, I have had a devil of a time posting this question. No matter how small I make the files I am getting message saying they are too big, and then when I try to submit them even smaller I get a message saying "you already posted this"!

Thanks!

Thanks, Jamie--very helpful. I do have Fusion as an option for interpolation, so I will use that. I will also look at the training video about sharpening at some point.

Thanks again!

54  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Qimage Settings for Epson R2000 on: December 15, 2012, 04:42:59 PM
Hi--

I read Fred's post from a while back about how to configure the printer settings for the Epson R2000--very helpful!-- but I have a question about configuration within Qimage.

Screen capture is attached. Are these settings fine to use as is, or is there any tweaking I should be doing with Resolution (either Max and/or High) and/or Interpolation Type? Are there "ideal" settings?

Thanks as always!

Hi Fred--I was confused about the AWB/RAW issue because I thought that white balance was a .jpg setting, and that in RAW the white balance is set in the "developing." Apparently I was wrong! So I will leave my camera at AWB.

I didn't know if Mike wanted confirmation that there are no black bars with the RX100, or if he knew it was not an issue, so I added my two cents.  Cry

Glad to see this update, and the HDR function is really fun! By the way, I don't get any black bars with portrait oriented RAW shots from my RX100.

57  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Changing overall saturation in Q.U. on: October 31, 2012, 06:39:21 PM
Fred and Terry--

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! I never understood what the lock option meant, or that choosing it "links" all colors, when I only saw Red listed.

Is there some place in the manual that explains what you explained, that I just couldn't find? I just looked again, doing a full Adobe Acrobat search. I used the terms "saturation," "adjust," "adjust saturation" and "adjusting saturation," and I still didn't even see it, though honestly it might be buried somewhere....

Many thanks again. I should've asked months ago!  Smiley
58  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Changing overall saturation in Q.U. on: October 31, 2012, 05:31:13 PM
Hi--

I have been using Qimage for years, but one function continues to remain a mystery to me, and that is making an overall reduction or increase to saturation. It seems one has to change specific channels; the selective filter color chart comes up, I get confused, so I end up ignoring it and using PS to change overall saturation.

I have done a topic search in the guide and it isn't obvious to me that there is a simple way to simply reduce or increase overall saturation via a slider, or something similar.

Could someone please correct me and/or clarify?

 Thanks.

Thanks Fred--that's the list I saw that answered my question indirectly.

I thought RX100 support might be imminent because DCRAW now supports it (http://www.cybercom.net/~dcoffin/dcraw/#faq).

OK, so I guess I am supposed to look at the notes from the previous version of QU and see that the RX100 has not yet been supported, and thus answer my own question!

So I will ask a different one: any idea when support for the RX100 will be implemented in QU?

Thanks.
